Shakin' in the Nation
A friend used an earlier blog post of mine on her socio-political blog, Shakin in the Nation.
If you think I'm opinionated, you should read this lady's work. Good stuff!

The seven core areas of preparedness
I had a recent article in Backwoods Home Magazine called The Seven Core Areas of Preparedness. It got featured on the front cover!
The funny thing is, I've gotten more emails off this article than I've had from any magazine article in a long time. Go figure.
A reader named David even posted a short review on his blog.
Thank you David!

Here's a young lady who is quite a talented writer. She's 21, homeschooled, and lives on her parent's homestead in Tennessee. Recently she asked permission to reprint an article I wrote for Backwoods Home Magazine entitled Raising Kids Simply.
Here's a link to her blog, which is well worth exploring. Enjoy!

Here are some belated links I've been meaning to post.
Here's a blog called For Christian Culture who posted a link to my WND article of a couple weeks ago entitled Welfare as God Intended.
The keen mind over at PACNW Righty also referenced the same WND column.
This link is new, and it was pretty cool -- an impromptu review of The Simplicity Primer by a neat organization called NeW -- Network of Enlightened Women, "the nation's premier organization for conservative university women."

Some neat writing
Some time ago a query came across my computer seeking basic information on canning from a writer who was working on an article. I plopped down and wrote a primer on the subject and sent it off. To my surprise the writer -- a delightful woman named Tiernan McKay -- used my piece while writing her article.
The article appeared on an online ezine called SheKnows.
Tiernan and I have stayed in touch because our politics and opinions dovetail quite a bit. She wrote a fabulous piece on her blog called Why I Love Religion and Politics.
She has some wonderful insights on raising children, connecting with the elderly, motherhood, and other relevant topics. Her blog is well worth absorbing.

Catching up on some kind folks who have posted me recently.
Mara Helland, CPA, put my book on her Helpful Links page.
Shakin in the Nation is a pretty cool in-your-face blog from a Christian perspective.
Another no-holds-barred conservative blog called I Don't Get It. Some excellent reading here.
Here's a lovely book review from a homeschooling mom on a neat blog called Living on Faith.
Rather unexpectedly I came across a blog called A Cultivated Nest in which the blogger had just received my book and posted her plans to read it while...recovering from a scorpion sting! Yikes! That's not a scenario you come across every day!
Here's a spiffy website called Unreliance dedicated to fierce independence. I'm also looking forward to reading his book.
My WND column Occupied Nation was linked on the Abigail Adams Tea Party Patriots page.
My WND column Occupied Nation was also linked on Johnny 2K's blog.
Remember, if you link to me, let me know so I can link back!

Last weekend's WND column, The Tyranny of Socialization, got picked up by several places.
Here's the St. Augustine Classical Academy newsletter.
A friend alerted me to a mention in the Family Times Newsletter.
Then a blog called Paradigms and Demographics picked it up as well.
Thank you, everyone!

I'm slowly catching up on my emails and just noticed that Rob Hirl at PACNW blog linked my WND column Serfdom: Coming Soon to a Country Near You. Rob had some very interesting observations about it!
Also, here's a fellow with a nifty blog on retirement who got a kick out of my Simplicity 101 column.

I'm shamefully behind in cross-linking a number of people who kindly posted something from my blog onto theirs, so here's the catch-up.
First and foremost, here's a writer named Leona Salazar who keeps a blog called I Don't Get It. She referenced one of my columns last year and I've borne a nasty guilt ever since for not cross-posting (I'm sorry, Leona!). This woman is a SCREAM. Witty, funny, and dead-on accurate. Her archives have her past articles. Go there, man, and immerse yourself in her brilliance.
Here's a brand-new start-up blog examining the importance of Constitutional Carry in Texas, which I think most folks reading this support and approve. Steve Haynes, the writer, referenced my Domestic Terrorist rant. He's fighting the good fight and needs our support!
Here's Rob at the PACNW Righty blog who referenced my Go West, Young Man post. Rob's observations are always razor-sharp.
And a new reader who runs a blog called the Orange Jeep Dad posted a piece on (gulp) castration. He looked up the particulars on YouTube and was horrified by the details. I would like to point Orange Jeep to my post on castrating our calf Thor 'cuz it's MUCH easier than the ol' yank-em-out version of castrating.
Remember folks, if you reference one of my blog posts on your blog, by all means let me know. The secret of the blogging world is links, links, links. Cross-linking posts is the way to grow!

My WND colum The Dumbest Generation got picked up by a couple of other sites.
A website called The American Culture (News, reviews, and analysis, edited by S. T. Karnick) printed portions.
Another site called PACNW Righty (a blog from a Conservative living in the Liberal Pacific Northwest) had some interesting commentary on the column.
This blog also has a list of funny observations on small-town living, including my favorite: "You laughed your butt off reading this because you know it is true." I did indeed.

Left-handed compliment
I was clicking on referrals on my blog recently to learn where people come from to find me, when I came across this blog (WARNING: very bad language!) written by someone called "Ornery Expletive." He was reviewing a variety of blogs and offered me the following accolade (slightly cleaned up):
Patrice, on the other hand, is a hoot. I might be a left wing zealot but I have an open mind and this lady just kicks my ***.
Good on ya sweetie.
I swear, this lady kicks my *** when it comes to traffic. But if you want to read some good writing, she is off the charts and I know *** good and well you who come here have never heard of her.
I'll admit I grinned for an hour over this one. Thanks, Ornery B., for the left-handed compliment!

In last weekend's WorldNetDaily article Making a Virtue Out of a Necessity, I included some words of wisdom by Gary Foreman of The Dollar Stretcher website. He just posted the link on his website. Cool!
By the way if you haven't been to Gary's website, go check it out. It is a seriously neat and informative place for all things frugal.

Yesterday morning while reading WorldNetDaily, I came across an article on EMPs (Electro Magnetic Pulse weapons) that could conceivable take down the North American power grid. I thought it was an interesting read, so I did something I've never done before: I sent the link to SurvivalBlog.
Last night I found out they not only used the link, but also linked back to my blog and also my list of preparedness posts.
Someone over there must like me! At any rate, welcome to new readers, and you might check out my Welcome page.
