The true sign of fall

The fall equinox has come and gone, and officially it's now fall.

However in the Lewis household, the true sign of fall is the Changing of the Sheets.

Yes, bedsheets. During the hot summer months, we strip the bed down to cotton sheets and a light blanket. But when fall comes, I wash the cotton sheets and hang them to dry...

...before packing them away for the next nine months. Then out come the flannel sheets.

Ah, bliss. Both Don and I sleep better in a snuggly bed with flannel sheets and more blankets.

Yep, the true sign of fall.

Fall equinox

Today was the fall equinox, when sunrise and sunset are at the same time and day and night are equal. I happened to catch the sunrise...

...at about 6:47 a.m.

It was a decidedly chilly 34F.

I also caught the sunset...

...at 6:42 p.m. (Sorry the room was so dark...)

We don't have perfectly flat horizons in the east or west, so that accounts for the five-minute time discrepancy. Pretty cool.

Sorry I've been so quiet lately on the blog. It's the busy season for our home woodcraft business, and we're routinely working twelve to fourteen-hour days. Kinda crazy around here!
