Signs of fall in the Lewis household

On August 18, Don "called" fall. Of course this has nothing to do with the calendar or even the temperature (in fact, the day he "called" it, it was 103F), but more to do with those indefinable hints that autumn is on the way.

But the temperatures have been delightfully cooler lately. In fact, below are some signs of fall in the Lewis household.

My slippers are now in use. In the evening after I shower, I either wear sandals (in hot weather) or slippers (in cooler weather). Let's just say the slippers have been packed away for quite some time. It's nice to wear them again.

The quilt is back on the bed. This quilt (a lucky thrift-store find from many years ago) is heavy, so in hot weather we remove it from the bed. Now it's back.

Along those lines, it was also time to retire the cotton sheets for the year. I washed them and put them away.

Now it's time to break out the flannel sheets, our preferred bedding during the rest of the year.

"You can tell it's fall," remarked Older Daughter, "because I'm craving hot tea again."

We can use the porch. In hot weather, even with porch blinds, it's too warm to use the porch. Now we're out here much more often.

I love fall. Can't wait until our oak trees start turning color.

  1. Haven't been keeping up lately, but where's the dog? Ok, I hope.

    1. Yep, he's fine! Full of sass as usual. I'll try to remember to take some pix.
