Random pix

We were in Spokane the other day, and it pleased me that a large number of businesses had their flags at half mast out of respect for the Tucson massacre.

While standing in the checkout line at Costco, we noticed this lady with little dogs in her bag. Cute. (We asked permission to take the photos.)

"Won't anyone play with me?"

I went out to feed the beasties one morning and found a lot of them weren't particularly hungry. That's because, some time during the night, someone had ripped a panel out of the half-wall that separates the shelter portion of the barn from the hay portion of the barn. The greedy critters had been eating all night long.

  1. I don't like to see animals of any type in a store that sells food. And please don't tell me a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's. That's just not true, unless you happen to know a human who licks his.....nevermind.

Sorry, but if somebody can't go anywhere without her little dogs, then maybe she needs to stay home and eat kibble. Meow!

  3. Ssshhhhhh.....maybe you should take down this post, Patrice, before mrs. obama learns of it and decides you're not only incapable of properly feeding your children, but your critters as well.

    Snark Alert, level two.

  5. I talk to the managers of EVERY store that we go into that has food and people take their dogs in. I hate it. The dog hair, the smell. Yuck. Although in Oregon it is a health code violation, if the person says "this is a service dog", nothing can be done about it. Now there are websites that sell tags for dogs that say "I am a service dog. My owner loves to have me with them." These are for those dogs that fit in purses, pockets, and my personal pet peeve: THE SEAT IN GROCERY CARTS WHERE BABIES SIT, or I put my purse and jacket.
Let's make sure we kill babies, leave children in meth homes, abuse elderly people, but never put any laws into place that will offend dogs.
By the way, I am a dog owner. I just know where he belongs. NOT IN GROCERY STORES. Can you tell it upsets me a little?!

  6. I agree with some of your commentors. I am always put off by someone who cannot be apart from thier animal long enough to go do some public chores.

  7. I'm pretty sure it's a health violation to have a pet in a grocery store in my neck of the woods as well.

    Yikes.

  8. Like I mentioned, it is a health code violation in Oregon, but if the person with the dog says it is a service dog, then there is nothing the store can do. According to our local food store management, it is a violation of the ADA to make the leave the dog in the car or somewhere other than bringing it in the store. We all know that real service dogs actually work for disabled people. These little teacup dogs are just another entitlemen bother that is an embarrassment to America.
