the sad thing is that this is stillnot an accurate picture of unemployment...this does not reflect the unemployed who have run out of benefits and have not found a new job nor does it reflect the lost jobs that had no benefits in the first place. i for one have been laid off from a part time job for 18mos...and i did not have unemployment benefits...my whole state is practically purple..mostly because there are alot of folks who are in the same boat that i am in. i am fortunate that my husband is retired and has a pension (liveable) coming in. i worked in the home building and supply business and we live in a rural county as well. the few months before i was laid off it was costing me more to go to work than to stay home.
Darn. My county's one of the purple ones. :(
