Oooh, they're starting to mention it!

Mention what, you may ask? Why my book of course! The Simplicity Primer's release date is June 7 and they've listed it on the WND Bookstore site - whoo hoo! And just now I noticed the tagline at the bottom of my column makes mention of it:

I understand the book is at the printers and soon - very soon - I'll be able to hold a copy myself. I have to admit, I'm getting more and more excited about it. Up to this point it hasn't really seemed "real," if you know what I mean.

On a different note, Don's been after me to let you guys see the formal portrait that will be on the back cover. If you remember, this is the picture they had to hog tie me to take. I still don't think it looks like me and frankly didn't want to post it, but Don said if I didn't, he would (LOL) so here it is.

I tried to convince the publishers that this farm photo was much more ME, but they wouldn't have it. Oh well.

  2. While both pictures of you are great, I like the "farm" photo. That matches the title of the book and captures the essence of who we, your readers, think you are.

  3. They're both lovely. I suppose we all should have a "nice" photo of ourselves from time to time. Is your hair long and just pulled to the back, or is it short?

  4. You are the same person, just in a different environment. That was supposed to sound deep, but it fell short!

You look beautiful in both, but I like the second one better, just because the environment is more natural and relaxed.

  5. You should negotiate to have the second picture of you used for your next book. It has that je ne sais quoi, your spirit shines through your eyes, and in a very sincere way which is rarely seen in this overly-commercialized world, and very beautiful. Bravo to hubby, very well done.

  6. I pre-ordered a copy and am looking forward to the contextual material that comes from your wisdom and heart and made it onto the pages of content within it. May your book please you in whatever purpose it was that you envisioned it.

Your photographs Patrice, are glowing. Both of them are replicative views of your inner beauty radiating out and shining onto and into the lens frame, as it relates best to perspective of the person who sees their preferred image of you, as they take the time frozen captured shot.

Both images are wonderful. Both, as contrasting as day and night, are reflections of YOU.

  7. The formal picture looks great, but I agree with you! I think the farm picture would have been perfect, especially since it was taken by your husband. Maybe the publisher just doesn't want to have wasted the money on a professional shoot. :)

I get excited every time I log on to Amazon and see your book in my open orders. We are striving to simplify our lives as much as we can and we can use all the help we can get. Plus it's neat to "know" the author of a book.

  9. Yeah I like the farm photo best :) The other one looks artificial.

  10. Looks like many of the H.S. graduation pictures I have seen Patrice. Taint nothing to fret about. I have seen some really strange and hard to understand pictures. This one is tame and right in line with what people imagine wnen they think of Patrice Lewis. Fear not. On you go!

  11. I had a few Professional Photographer comments ready, Patrice, but, really, everybody has already said it all. I, too, am partial to the barn shot, and have to chuckle at the perfect, one-to-one correspondence between certain technical "professional" details between the Pro shot, and Don's unconscious, off-the-cuff shot.

The Patrice we know and love comes through in both shots.

  13. You clean up fairly well, so I would use the high dollar picture.

  14. I like the farm photo, it is you and your life and the book! The other one is nice but it is just like all the other publishers...

  15. They are both great, in their own ways. The professional photo would be more like the "Old Patrice" from her days of living in CA and doing the whole corporate thing. The farm-barn photo is the "New Patrice" with the simpified (hahahaha) lifestyle. That's how the publisher could have used them, too. On the front cover, the "New Patrice" and on the back cover the "Old Patrice."

If I were to judge your approachability based on merely your photos, the pro photo makes me think you would be unapproachable. The farm-barn photo makes me think you are down-to-earth and as approachable as a new calf.

Got the book on my Amazon list.

  16. You look good in both pictures...The "professional" one has a high school yearbook photo feel to it. The other one is friendlier, but what do the powers that be know? ;-)

  17. Yep, very lovely. The captions could read, "You can take the girl out of the country(1), but you can't take the country outta the girl(2)!

  18. Ok, here's what I see:

The pro shot has that extra big smile that intends to "tell" people that you are confident and capable of explaining simplicity to those who may be confused....

The Husband Pro shot has managed to capture a deepness, and intensity in your eyes that immediately jumps right out and lets people know they can expect knowledgeable facts - and the TRUTH is about to come radiating out so much that no one should ignore it .....

In typical pro photography staging, they went for the easy shot and completely missed the important features and personality.....

  19. You look lovely in both photos, but I agree with you that the second is a little more fun.

  21. I like both photos, but I think the 'farm foto' is the real you. Congrats on the book, I'll be getting one.

  22. I like the farm picture better. But the pro one is flattering too.

  23. Patrice, you probably already noticed this, but Amazon thinks your name is Lewis Patrice. Might want to get them to fix that before June. :)

  24. Both pictures are good but like many who commented here, I really like the farm photo better. Can't wait for the book.

  25. After following your blog for a while, I was glad to see a pic of who you are. Both pics show what I consider to be of a "real" woman. The kind I like to have in my family and as friends. The kind that help make God's world a better place in real and permanent ways. Congrats on all your work and sharing through your blog.
