Evolution of a squall

Yesterday evening I noticed a squall forming over the butte to the south of us. Here's how it developed. I photographed it from different directions as it slowly moved our way.

The setting sun.

The squall moved so slowly that it didn't hit us until dark - and by then the temperature had dropped and the rain turned to snow.

Still, it was a pretty way to end the evening.

Oh, and just for kicks - this was the sun during the midst of a snow squall earlier in the day. Don took this one.

  2. You are developing a real good eye for a good photo. I was recently watching low storm clouds coming and going in front off the much publicized "super moon". It was pretty neat but I think you could not really catch the moment without motion pictures.
