"The moves are totally innocent."

Totally innocent, eh? At least that's the justification used by the mothers and instructors at a dance studio in England where little girls as young as three years old are learning to pole dance.

But don't worry, the moves are totally innocent. The classes merely serve to keep youngsters fit and boost their (cough) "self esteem."

The instructor said "she started the classes six months ago because of demand from the children of mothers she teaches to pole dance."

The sad part is she's undoubtedly right. Just like with all the other horribly sexualized options for girls out there -- clothing, makeup, music, games -- these things don't spring from a vacuum. There is a demand for them. Parents are the ones who buy the clothes, makeup, music, and games that transform their sweet innocent girls into miniature "prosti-tots." And the scary part is, they see no wrong in it.

Pole dancing for toddlers is just an extension of that.

The instructor continues, "They [the children] wanted to join in because it is such fun. There is nothing sexual about it. I am trying to remove the stigma from pole dancing and show that it actually helps children keep fit and learn balance, much like gym classes. Nothing has meaning apart from the meaning someone attaches to it." [emphasis sadded]

Sorry, maybe I'm missing here, but pole dancing is a firmly-established dance form in sleazy adult environments. Don't accuse me of making up the connection. It's already there.

Perhaps rather defensively, the instructor ended the interview with the words, "I'm not a scumbag."

In that respect she's partially right. The parents are just as bad as she is.

Just sayin'.

  1. Holy Hannah! You can bet neither of my girls would be on a pole. Honestly I wouln't be doing it either. I am sure it can be very athletic but so is a host of other things. Wow. Way to make you daughters bigger predetor targets.

  2. UGGGHHH!!!

I am so glad we moved our family to the country and never looked back. We used to live in an affluent suburb of Phoenix (thanks to DH's job) and I was the only mother at preschool pickup not sporting high heels, mini skirts, dyed hair, and breast implants. Even the 3 and 4 year old girls wore heeled sandals. We knew we did not want our 3 girls growing up thinking that is "normal", so we got out of there as fast as we could. This totally sounds like something that parents would do with their kids there!!

What a shame some folks have no sense.

Reminds me of the first time I saw thong underwear marketed for little girls. Who comes up with this stuff... ??

  3. Hmmm. So why not do gym classes in the first place?

I wonder what the fathers think.

  4. gee i wonder where the girls got the idea to learn to pole dance? and people think teaching girls as young as 3 to pole dance is ok? that's so funny yet so sad at the same time. can anyone tell me where the morals are in the world? i haven't been able to find any since the 80's. my wife and i don't have any children and she and i are ok with that especially since we see things like this happening in the world. she and i don't want to raise children in a world that has lost its' morals.

If these so-called "mothers" want their little girls to use a pole while dancing - how about ballet lessons? I remember that long bar along the wall - stretch, lift and bend, stretch, lift and bend! That woman would not get within 200 yards of any little girl that I know. She gave herself a fitting name.....

  6. "Reminds me of the first time I saw thong underwear marketed for little girls. Who comes up with this stuff...??" Well, Rural Mom of 4, PROGRESSIVE LIBERALS come up with this stuff! They want no morality, no inhibitions, no rules. They want to have sex with anyone and everyone, male/male, female/female, small children, group sex, even beastiality! And they want lots of BIG government to protect them while they do this. We need to wake up and fight back against them, for they are not just immoral, sick liars, they are truly insane. Our liberal leaders know by giving these whackos anything they want, they'll get their vote, and that's all liberals want for now. Eventually, the immoral kooks will be thrown into the same pot with all the conservatives, Christians and decent folks, no doubt kicking and screaming and demanding to know... why? WHY??? The joke will be on them.

  7. Sexualizing little girls is exactly why guys like Anthony Weiner can send photos of his private parts to women across the country and get away with it. To add insult to injury, the NY branch of NOW supports him.

People, if we don't stand up and speak out against this type of thing then we are just as guilty. Silence is tantamount to approval.

So sad....especially in the next 10 years or so when the parents go " I don't understand why my child is pregnant or in trouble or treats me like dirt", SIGH....I feel us morally correct parents are becoming an extinct group....we all need to buy a city and all move there, ( not just anyone can move in, there is a strict background check and probation period) and the motto of our city manners and morals. :)

  9. I can just see one of those poor girls showing off their new skills (like all kids do) and getting raped for it. The defense will of course be 'but she asked for it'.

  10. My daughter is 15 now, and we didn't even allow the Bratz Dolls in our home when she was little. We found them to be too nasty. These Mom's and the instructor should be ashamed of themselves. There is no way to "take the stigma" out of pole dancing. It is what it is. Having little girls pole dancing doesn't make it non-sexual, it makes the little girls sexual, which is reprehensible.
