Oh great. Now they ruined our money, too.

I found this to be a fascinating - and alarming - little article.  It seems the government is having a wee bit of a problem printing money.  "Because of a problem with the presses, the federal government has shut down production of its flashy new $100 bills, and has quarantined more than 1 billion of them -- more than 10 percent of all existing U.S. cash -- in a vault in Fort Worth, Texas."

The frustration level, a source told the reporter, is "off the charts."

I can well imagine.

  2. This design took 10 years to develop and 10 seconds to mess up. That's got to be a new record for government/FRB inefficiency.

Furthermore, did they not realize that the crooks weren't sitting back and waiting - they were learning new skills so they could counterfeit the new bills. Providing, of course, the new $100 denomination FRNs ever do enter circulation.

But, wait, there's more news about our money. The legislature passed a bill (Dec.3) that could change the content of our coinage. Think the clad stuff is junk? Wait until the new stuff starts rolling out of the mint. Steel, aluminum, maybe zinc for our nickels, quarters, halves?? And perhaps eliminating cents altogether?? (That would automatically raise the price of almost everything by at least 4%.) It's called HR 6162: Coin Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act of 2010. (I would have posted a link, but they never work right) With the price of copper, nickel, and zinc increasing almost daily, it costs more to mint a nickel than the face value of the nickel. Of course, cents haven't been made of copper since 1983. They're zinc with a copper coating - and they deteriorate quickly when buried, so don't bury them.

What to do? IMO, buy gold!

  7. What do you propose Americans do, Had Enuff? I enjoy people who complain about something yet post no possible solutions. And don't say something stupid or violent or illegal - that's what the left is hoping will happen. Refuse to be a party to chaos.

Watch Glenn Beck. He outlines the problems and the leftists' plans, then he offers suggestions for peaceful solutions. Glenn Beck is prophetic.

  8. Our progressive leaders have a good many Americans totally indoctrinated and conditioned (I call it "brainwashed.") As bad as they're doing at controlling the nation, Obama's approval rating should be WAY down in the 20's or teens, but it isn't. Depending on the poll, it's still in the low to mid-40's! What does this guy and his socialist cronies have to do to wake people up? Go on national TV and admit he's been lying through his teeth and hoodwinking the country? Even if he did that, no doubt many of his "sheeple" would continue to believe in him. As they say, "Ignorance is bliss."

  9. We as a People have been conditioned to accept half measures. we didn't finish the first time. Back to the Persian Gulf. Something faiks..do it gain. look at how many inept politicians get reelected. Alls we need to do is to not accept second string. If it fails replace it with top shelf. Its like when I buy tools. I buy them at the discount store. When something breaks I replace with Mac or Craftsmen or someother Good tool.

  10. yep..the you know what is hitting the fan and seems the velocity is increasing by the day. what the govt wants they will take..so while stashing away food, money, valueables etc.. i suggest that maybe you let the facade of your home go to seed just a little bit too. i base this on what the govt did to farmers and the like during the depression years and wwII.

  11. Patrice, I noticed in one of your preparedness columns you recommended storing bleach. I found out from the Clorox people that bleach has a relatively short shelf life of one year. Just saying.

  12. Re: Bleach

I believe that pool shock has a longer shelf life (as long as it is kept dry) and can be used to make bleach when the time comes. Just saying.

  13. Yes, Melody is correct. A little pool shock will make a large amount of bleach. Just be careful how you store pool shock since it can become corrosive if not stored properly. Best to ask a pool service company how to do that. Online information is too unreliable for this important subject, IMHO

I understand that a bottle of iodine will also lose its efficacy within 6 months or so after it's opened.

  14. Patriot, I do not know what you will call illegal, but if you are referring to an open revolt or a march on Washington D.C. both are completely legal according to the Constitution. The Constitution provides for the American citizenry to combat tyranny whenever it pops up its ugly head. As far a Glen beck you can follow his lead. but talk and political solutions have not been the answer for oh well lets see since Jimmy Carter, the second worse fool in the catbird seat next to obama. If Mr. Beck had any great stirring in his heart for the American people he would act and not just talk. After all action speaks louder than words. Peaceful elections sometimes do not bring peaceful results.

  15. As for my actions Patriot, let me clue you in as to what my actions have been. First off I helped form a Tea Party in my small hometown. We then allied ourselves with over 30 other tea parties and formed a coalition to help get like minded candidates elected. Secondly I joined the Republican Executive Committee to further political solutions in our home area. Thirdly, I have started storing food, now about 8 months worth. I have about a 1000 rounds of ammo for each gun I use for self defense and Have bug out bags for my family. I am in the process now of teaching my family how to master these weapons in case they are needed. In actuality I refuse to sit on my ass watching the boob tube like yourself and patronize people who love their country and are willing to take action to defend her from both within and from outside destabilizing groups. King George would have loved you!
