Most boring blog ever

Here's a comment I recently received:

You win the award for the most boring blog ever. Pictures of biscuits and posts about freezers and clock radios. Yawn. Please get real lives and stop documenting every burned out light bulb and fart you come across. You have great potential (I've read a lot of your stuff), but you're wasting it on the mundane. ZZZZZZZZZZ..............

Ah well, ya can't please 'em all.

  1. Every person has their own taste. If this person finds cows boring, but hotrods exciting so be it. I find farming and homesteading awesome. So instead of belittling someone you don't appreciate, who works hard at what she does, move to a blog that is more to your liking and leave the biscuits and cows to those of us that appreciate it. We love your blog Patrice !

    1. Ditto! What you say makes such good sense. But then, liberal-progressive snarks never make good sense, or any sense at all. They just want to control everyone and everything. As for not being able to please 'em all, have you noticed that pretty much just applies to the liberal progressives? Hmmm...

  2. Makes me wonder what they thought they were getting into. I for one would never have thought to hold onto the old freezer for bulk chicken food storage, OR keeping an extra supply of canning jars to save meat if the freezer does die. While I don't have a propane stove, I do have one of those Camp Explorer double burner systems that looks like a set of jet engines...I might even try to use that next time I pressure can to keep from steaming up the house.

  3. Well, when you live on a homestead growing vegies and raising animals everything can't be big town excitement. Besides, who wants big town excitement when you live in the backwoods and love doing so? I enjoy stories about freezers that quit and burned out light bulbs and clocks that don't keep time. Some people just don't get it.

  4. Funny, I was just thinking, as I was navigating to your blog, how much I enjoy checking in every few days to see what's new at your farmstead. Not boring. I love your blog! : - )

    1. I would agree, I don't watch the news anymore because of all the excessive negativism. I would rather keep it simple. If this person is disgruntled why don't they just stop reading your blog instead of having to hurt someone's feelings! KEEP IT SIMPLE

  5. They need to just move along then, if you don't like it, don't read it, pretty simple math! Haters will be haters, they are folks that are just miserable and unhappy.... I love reading your blog and read it daily!!

  6. If that's how they feel...WHY are they still reading? Duh! Oh, wait! I hear it now...the sound of a troll passing by. Don't listen to that malarkey Patrice. I think someone baptized a Baby Ruth in his cereal this morning!

  7. That's crazy. Your blog is fascinating!

  8. I dare say some of us revel in the mundane, and we're right where we need to be. For me, knitting, container gardening, and the pursuit of all things frugal are where it's at!

  9. Yes, you're so boring that I come here every morning, looking to see what's new and what ideas I can steal/use.

  10. I wonder what THEIR blog looks like - I bet many of us would find it either boring or superficial, and either way I'm sure it is less useful.

  11. Don't stop what you are doing.....I love your posts. I kept checking out your older posts because I enjoyed them so much. Have a great weekend!

  12. Patrice made a comment several weeks ago about the Rural Revolution community. Until she did I never could reconcile my love of her blog with what she posts. She nailed it, we are a community and we care about her and the whole family that she allows us to follow every day. Yes I want to know about the freezer dying and the clock stopping and all of the rest of her family's life. I find almost all of her posts fascinating and I look forward to something each day. Thank you Patrice and the whole Lewis family!

  13. Love your blog. If your blog is boring, can't imagine what mine is :)

  14. LOL!!

    And yet.....they're here.

There's nothing quite as ridiculous as the bleating criticism of those who create by those who cannot.

Patrice, try not to be too crushed. [wink wink ~ giggle giggle]

    1. As the saying goes, "Those who can't do, teach." In the case of this poster, they cannot really teach either as there was no identifying what they liked.

But hey, take it as a backhanded compliment that this poster wants to see more of what rocks - if only they didn't settle for the easier route of drive-by cyberslamming.

  15. Gee whiz, Patrice. No swearing, no sex, no violence. Just great stories, beautiful pictures and lots of terrific tips for living. THANK YOU! Anyone who is "bored" with your blog isn't being forced to read it at gunpoint. But the conditioned "politically correct" crowd wants you to be a part of today's immoral, perverted society, with no honesty, honor or integrity. I just wish there were many more like you, kiddo! --Fred in AZ

  17. Keep doing what your doing, I love your blog. There are so many things I've learned from you that I'd have had to learn the hard way on my own. Don't worry about the naysayers, some people you just can't please.

  18. Great blog site. just got thru reading a blog called Cozy Little House she was talking about recycling old appliances. Also having some kind of contest about what you would do with old appliances. After reading about your freezer I thought you should read and enter this Have a Great day.

  19. "These are not the we're looking for. Move along.. Move along."

I make my living counting stuff, to be plain. "How many?" is a really important question.

How many followers/daily unique hits/ etc. do you get on your blog.

It is a marketplace. Mr. Ford sold boring black Model Ts for a long time, because they were useful to the buying public.

If people aren't "buying", in general, think about your content etc. One or two malcontents who want a purple model T? Eh...

Ooooo, and Dead Lightbulbs (the REAL ones), can be fun. I still recall 50 years ago making maracas (sp?) with lightbulbs overlaid with papier-mâché. Once dry, you smack the assembly good and hard, the bulb breaks inside and you have a maraca! See? Even dead lightbulbs can be fun!!

  20. You know, there are times that you just can't please some folks. Don't let them get to you. Keep your blog the way YOU want it.

Me, I like coming to your blog every few days. It's fun, and has some great info. As for your old chest freezer, When my grand mothers chest freezer died. Me and a friend or two filled it up with water, and kept crawdads in it.

I love reading about your "real life": trouble shooting/creative solutions to everyday problems, great recipes, canning, gardening, and animal care tips, etc. Please keep the "real life" coming! ~Cricket

  26. About wasting your great potential on the mundane ..--..
Wonder what this person thinks of Robert Burns - the Scott who is known in literary circles for his poem to a mouse and the poem about a louse.
Most humans live the mundane. I appreciate your writings, and visit your site every day. It helps to soothe my nerves when I've been reading about our federal zoo (some call it government) in DC. I also read your weekly column at WND, and like your insight into human nature. Keep up the good work.

  28. Geez Patrice - talk about you being boring - the highlight of my day is when you guys get a new tractor or freezer....I live vicariously through your boring life!!!

  29. Your snarky-troll moved me to comment. I check your blog almost daily but rarely comment. I love what you say and how you say it. I come here to learn and to enjoy the homestead life I would like to have some day.
Just wanted to add that I loved the post recently that had a photo of your kitchen counter and a description of what was in the photo. Excellent snap shot (pun intended) into your life.

  30. I love your blog! Sounds like this writer should follow their own advice and THEY should get a life and stop reading posts. Maybe they need a job to keep themselves busy.

  31. Hey Patrice, you have potential!!! Whooda thunk it?

    ReplyDelete
  32. ....and perhaps your blog is the only way that this sad poster could be assured that anyone would read his/her opinion, Patrice. (Blog envy) But like many would be bloggers might do, they forgot to make their posts stand out with the personal detail that makes life interesting and transforms readers/people into friends.

Having read the critique of what isn't supposedly right, the poster failed to mention the aspects which showed such potential - save for the fact that he/she thought so. Again, no details, just me, me, me-ism.

Good on ya, Patrice. Keep it coming with that dose of blessed normal that helps more than you know. Then again, I think you do ;^)

  33. Silly me, if I decide a blog is boring, I just stop reading it. No fanfare, no announcement, no complaining.

  34. Right...because learning real, usable life skills is boring.

  35. Like some others - I run across a lot of blogs that bore me to tears, so I just don't read them. It would never occur to me to tell the author they were boring, it's their lives! That boy's mama must not have raised him right (or her as the case may be)....

  36. Here's my translation of today's snarker's comments: "I'm bored!! Keep me perpetually entertained!! That's your job!!"

I find your blog to be an oasis and love to come and see whatever is going on. I find peace, like-mindedness and inspiration here, just as so many others do too.

  38. Patrice, Thank you for being boring! Thank you for posting about real life issues and homestead happenings. I was so sick of sensationalism that I stopped watching Brian Williams 4 years ago when every one of his news broadcasts started sounding like tabloids as the openings were laced with adjectives like "sensational", "horrific" and "desperate" and " frightening"...
There is nothing 'boring" about facing life's challenges everyday, rising to the occasion and figuring it all out.

  40. Perhaps the reader expected some wildly engaging backwoods anti-gov conspiracy talk on a blog with this name. To me, our revolution is returning to rural roots and abandoning the rat race, or aspiring to abandon it!

  43. I love your blog it is not boring at all. Don't change a thing this is your voice! If someone doesn't like it they don't have to read it. Please don't change a thing! I am not a person that post many comments but when someone post something like that it just really gets my hackles up and I just had to give you my thumbs up (per my grandkids that's my way of saying your doing an awesome job).

    ReplyDelete
  44. I totally agree with KC....don't change a thing!!! I love your Blog...it's the only one I follow daily. That includes your weekly column on WND. I always wonder what you'll find to write about next.

  47. Well I read the post on the dead freezer...I have one and it might die someday. I like biscuits too.

However, I will admit that I tend to skim over the posts on calving etc. I don't have livestock. But that's just me and I certainly wouldn't post a complaint to not post about it. Geez.

Maybe in the age in instant and constant entertainment, watching vegetables freeze was a little too slow for him, you know like watching paint dry. lol

  48. Keep doing what you are doing. Your slice of life is refreshing and a great example for any that are searching for a better way of "life" for themselves and their family. Simple pleasures and home economy is not boring... it is what life is really all about. Looking for the "thrilling" is a dead end street.

  50. Patrice--the person who wrote the comment is simply jealous: s(he) is unhappy with the daily minutia, but reads "a lot of your stuff". For me, I cannot live without a dose of your daily sunshine, even when it is snowing. Far as I am concerned, you are the best blog ever.

You blog about stuff that friends would chat with each other about over coffee and I love that! ~Heather

  56. Well of course I'd like to see about 5x the amount of more boring stuff than you have time post. But hey; you have a life to live, I look at it as a privilege that you share what you do. It's going to be really weird when I finally meet you and you think I'm a stranger but I think of you as family.

  57. I had to laugh... I enjoy your 'boring' blog. I suppose that person wants you to post on your adventures at Walmart or hear you gush over the pop music awards, or your latest visit to get a pedi and a mani done... you, know real, important things in life--things that matter.

  62. I too like your blog. It is a shame you have to receive such comments. Should the person have a constructive point then make it, should they wish to have more information on a particular topic then ask.

Guess I am saying, if they don't like the blog don't click on the site.

Love the pics of the biscuits, family and simple uplifting advise/suggestions for living a more independent life style. Reminds me of the days my mother & neighbor discussing daily life over our backyard fence.

I thank you and appreciate your blog
