Tattletales

Reason #645 to homeschool your kids.

Apparently a Missouri lawmaker wants any parent who owns guns to notify their child's school. "The lawmaker says she hopes the already filed bill will bring awareness to schools and to parents about keeping their guns locked up," says the article.

Did this lawmaker just fall off the turnip truck? What good is a locked-up gun? How would keeping a locked-up gun have worked for that mother in George who shot the intruder five times? By definition, a locked-up gun is a useless piece of metal.

Anyway, back to the article:

"It's the next idea in a long list of proposed ideas for gun control, making it mandatory for parents to notify their child's school about their gun supply.

'I am not trying to take away the gun rights of any parents or any other citizens I believe in the second amendment,' says State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal."

[Ever heard of baby steps, Senator Chappelle-Nadal?]

As one commenter at the end of the article wrote, "Anti-gun whackos have smelled the blood of our children in the water and are in a feeding frenzy of gun banning! Out comes every stupid idea they can scrape from their heels to try to destroy a god given natural right to self defense. Terrified by guns they have forgotten the faces of our forefathers and the anti-gun sharks will rip our rights to shreds!"

Another comment: "Yet another reason to start homeschooling your kids or sending them to a private school. This does not solve the problem - it exposes and threatens good people. You really think criminals (e.g., people who have guns in the home for nefarious reasons) will actually report their guns to the school? Of course not."

The full text of the bill is here.

Thankfully the article concludes with: "This proposal is one of only a handful in Missouri's house and senate... the chances of any bills about the issue being passed is slim to none because of the political atmosphere between the lawmakers and the governor."

  2. I am ever so glad that my kids are older and out of school. If they were still school age, then we would be homeschooling.

My kids know we have guns, where they are, how to use them, and in what situation it is proper to handle and/or use them.
It is no one's business what I have or do in my home, as long as my kids are raised properly, and well taken care of.

  3. We can hope that now the stupidity of the MO lawmaker has been revealed that she'll be voted out next election.

  4. I started to tell people, over 11 years ago, to homeschool their children.

Even in small conservative communities with teachers well known and respected, the .gov has so many course and instructional mandate 'strings' attached to their federal funding that socialistic and collectivist indoctrination is unavoidable.

Then you have idjits like this one that puts the cherry on top of the sundae!

  5. They will teach/indoctrinate children to the point that children will be supposed to snitch on their parents. Right now, they can just ask your children who will innocently answer and tell the teacher anything she asks.

Children in Germany turned in their parents for "infractions."

  7. Does the concept of enforceability even occur to these grandstanding hysteria mongers?

We need to pull the plug.

  8. It is truly a shame that 26 people (20 babies included) were killed by some lunatic, but what about the 995,680+ babies aborted in the last 3 or so years. Who is screaming about them? Were they less important than the 26? Are they any less valuable?

  9. Thankfully the Repub's hold a super majority in both the Missouri House and Senate. And the ones in our corner of the state are pro 2A. As usual this was proposed by a liberal democrat in one of the larger cities of Missouri (St. Louis).
On a lighter note our former governor, Bob Holden (D), was recently mugged walking the streets of St. Louis. Perhaps if he was carrying concealed.

  10. In Canada, guns must be in locked case with a trigger lock on. Ammo must be kept locked up several feet away.

  12. They know they probably won't get my guns and your guns, but by making it it an abomination to our children, by exploiting the things that have happened and making sure our kids in public school are seeing it and making sure they know all about it, they will get them from them in five or ten years. We have to stop this indoctrination.

  13. Good morning Patrice,
Thanks for another thoughtful post. Hopefully this one won't elicit the ire of the paid trolls that raise their heads everytime someone stands up for their freedom! I see your other post has 73 comments, too bad they don't read ALL of your posts and hear about love, country and the Lord. It might do them some good.

  14. I am one of those people who is just not comfortable around guns. I am married to a hunter and yes, I have taken a gun safety course. We had a gun safe while he was still hunting. He used trigger locks. There is common sense and there is stupidity. No amount of regulations can make people have common sense. While I fail to see why its necessary to have assault rifles, I am horrified at the idea children should "tattle" on their parents. Talk about a slippery slop.
I am a retired nurse and have witnessed the horrible results of careless use of guns, attempted suicides and yes homicide. I believe that where we need to concentrate is our approach to mental illness but I'm not so naive as to think that will prevent this craziness from happening again.
I would like to see a logical, sensible approach to the issue without all the knee jerk reactions and political posturing. Rushing through legislation right now is hardly going to "fix" anything.

    1. Well, first, there is no such thing as an "assault rifle." If you are asking why someone would need something like an AR15, I can tell you that, as a woman, they are: lighter and easier to carry, more accurate than a pistol, have low recoil which is easier on the shoulder.

  15. This is just another form of gun registration. If they know where the guns are, it will be more easy to confiscate them.
