School massacre in Connecticut

My heart and prayers go out to the victims of this horrible tragedy.

My God the world is full of evil people...

  2. It absolutely amazes me at the sickness of some people. Having said that isn't it amazing that the last 3 massacres were all in gun free zones? The movie theater in Colorado, the mall in Portland and now the school were all areas that a law abiding gun carrier can not go. It seems to me that at some point people would recognise the fact that these are to places that nuts like this go.

  3. So sad this would happen to such small town and at an elementary school ... one place you expect your children would be safe. Prayers to all the families and members of the community there.

  4. I agree ... gun free zone = free kill zone to those with no respect for human life.

  5. I am speechless and in shock. I live about a mile from the school where this happened, and know some of those families who have suffered the loss of their innocent children.
There are no words.....may God grant them peace.

  6. Those poor families. My heart just breaks for them.

I homeschool my first-grader and even though today I seriously considered selling her to the circus, I can look over at her on the couch watching a Tinkerbell movie and I can still think that I am glad I homeschool.

    1. This was the conversation that my husband and I had over dinner last night (as both our eyes welled with tears). I think his words were something along the lines of, "if someone comes after my kids with a gun, I want to be there to defend them." He works from home while we homeschool, so I have no doubt he would make good on his word. :)

    2. My husband and I both cried as we watched and discussed this tragic event. What we have to remember, this man was mentally ill, stole the guns from his Mother who had them legally registered and attacked innocents.

I fully believe there is no safer place than in a home of loving parents that know how to defend their children, teach their children at home, as well as how to be self sufficient and how to shoot and to handle guns responsibly. The guns This would not have happened in such a home.

  7. And yet when the reporters talk to ex military people about the shootings, they try to twist it to gun control.
    Hello!
    These were gun free zones.

May God comfort them all at this time.

  8. We really need to do a better job with the mentally ill population.

    1. Amen.

This is really the key issue in these situations.

    2. Yes, we do. Having seen it first hand. Someone committed, given medication for a couple of days and let out because they are now thinking clearly. . . .only to immediately stop taking the medication.

  9. It is a terrible tragedy indeed. I can't help wondering if this was the Hegelian dialectic in action. Whole thing makes me shudder.

  10. I can only offer prayers for the parents and other survivors, and prayers for the perpetrator's survivors. As someone else wrote, "may God grant them peace".

Evil exists, and it rears it's ugly head all too often. Today I learned that the worst US (Bath Michigan) school massacre was in 1927 and the perpetrator blew up an elementary school, killing 38 children. He then blew up his own car, killing himself and a few more people that were fleeing the burning school.

  11. So sad, and so horrible. My heart breaks for those families. And now the media screams "WE NEED GUN CONTROL". So wrong, on so many levels. Praying for those families, & the whole town. Such a tragedy. :(

  12. It's not just the last three massacres, take a look at all of the major massacres and they all have one thing in common. The victims were disarmed.

Here are a few that come to mind:
    The Holocaust
    Rwanda
    China
    Soviet Union
    Fort Hood

  13. It's too easy to say he was evil and forget about it until next time. Few twenty-year-old kids -- few people at all -- are 'evil'. There's too many people and not enough choices and the pressures and tensions build up and up. Why are there so many suicidal/murderous attacks in Pakistan? It's not a war zone; and they're killing their own, not infidels. It *is* densely populated and socially stratified, with no way out for anyone who doesn't want to live that way. The West is getting more and more like that. What way out, what way in any direction, did this kid have? He was clearly bright; apparently a Goth for a period; a tech-nerd. How tolerant do you think the world is of any of those? -- and let's not be twee. The sort of bright that goes to Harvard (suck-ass conformists), and the sort of bright that elects to be Goth, which is about as browned off with the system as it gets, are not the same bright at all -- and for spiritual/intellectual *integrity*, I'd choose the Goth any day. Where do bright oddballs find employment? Certainly not in accounting offices, as his father and brother are apparently employed. Trapped. A whole generation trapped. And the more vulnerable of them are going to snap. The wonder is not that these things happen, but that they happen so little often, when young people's expectations -- when it hurts the most -- are so bleakly joyless. Does that mean I understand the choice this kid made? No. But his death is just as tragic as those of his victims.

  14. Let us consider lessons we haven’t learned from Friday’s school shooting. The time has come to face up to the fact that our usual knee jerk gun equipment bans do not and will never work to prevent these mass shootings. In Illinois a 20 year old is prohibited from owning handguns, in fact this young man did not own the guns he used in the shooting. Next is the issue of so called guns free zones mandated by many of the concealed carry laws. These restrictions on where a gun may be carried by a law abiding license holder are put in the laws as a compromise to appease the anti-gun side. No carry in a school zone? All we have done is make a target zone of schools, shopping malls and other gathering places. The Virginia Tech shooter reportedly chained doors shut on his defenseless victims before he killed 32. We have the right and obligation to defend ourselves and others trusted into our care. I do not think that cowering under a desk with those we are obligated to protect and hoping the shooter passes us by is an adequate defense against an armed intruder who is violating numerous existing laws. We have fallen victim to the fantasy that our existing strategies will protect us when in fact they are failures. Mentally unstable individuals are prohibited from owning any gun in Illinois yet we are unable or unwilling to make this work. Should we examine what goes on in Chicago, one of the gun ban capitals of the world? Another joke. Rather we should allow those so inclined to be trained in the art of self-defense and equipped to deal with any threat. Had there been trained and armed cardholders in Virginia Tech or Aurora, Colorado or Sandy Hook or on the planes of 9/11 would the defenseless innocent have been slaughtered? Before I am crucified for this view let me emphasize the training. Even though I am pro-gun I have come to realize that just sitting someone in an 8-hour class and giving them a license is not enough. I know, I have taken that class. Continuing education and practice is required to really make this a viable long-term success. Rather than teach children that “guns are bad” let’s teach gun education, safety and hands on practice from an early age. Teach that people can be bad, not the hardware.

  16. I live in CA and have a CCW, which is not easy and not cheap to obtain. I often carry when not at home. Frankly, I don't care what the law says about gun-free zones, especially while taking evening classes at the local community college. It's not that carrying makes me safe or even "feel" safe, it's that I know I will have a chance to fight back, and if I end up arrested at least I won't be dead.

  17. After approving the sale of guns to Mexican drug gangs, some being used to kill over 300 Mexicans and at LEAST 2 Americans, any words Obama has to say about the school shooting in Connecticutt should be humble and few lest he violate the bounds of good taste and decency.

    1. Obama does not care about good taste or decency. The bodies of the victims in Sandy Hook were not even cold and he was already beating the drum for this gun control agenda.

Something else to think about, Obama has killed more children than all of the school shooters put together (http://tribune.com.pk/story/229844/the-day-69-children-died/).

  18. Was he on prescribed medication. There is a direct link between some meds and jumping off the deep end as this young man did.

    1. My first gut instinct was just that: reaction to prescribed medication. Not an excuse, but a cause. Some of the drugs "different" kids and young adults are put on, have very low incidences of the horrific side effect. How horrific does it have to be for that low incidence to be too much? !

Big pharma has deep pockets and some of the best lobbyists. I wonder if we will ever be told the truth about any medications he may or may not have been on.

  19. This is a tragedy and the families are devastated. Yet, the Progressive Liberals use this opportunity to say that guns need to be banned and the Governor uses it to talk about gun laws. REALLY!!

If the principal of that school had been allowed to have a gun and the office staff were armed as well - not one child would have died. Think about this. All of those children would be alive today if the Principal had dropped the mental case with a bullet before he got to the classrooms.

When events like this happen, guns don't walk into a building and fire at people. If we ban guns, then Crossbows and large kitchen knives should be banned, also; they were used two weeks ago in Wyoming. Then we have to consider that anyone who works in a restaurant and is mental or on the edge of a breakdown and decides to kill a bunch of people can use any chemical cleaner to put into the food. So we ban all cleaners? The list of items that would have to be banned would be endless as anyone with the intent to kill will find a way to do it.

Gun control is nothing less than a Marxist/Communist agenda to disarm the good and decent people of this country. Many murderers that come into this country are armed by the current administration - 'Fast & Furious' should jar a mental connection....

The answer is not less guns and more laws, but more guns in the hands of those who are mentally stable and in charge of the schools in this country. As mentioned in a previous post, Gun Free Zones are targets for nut jobs, therefore, no child is safe in a public school, until the administrators and educators can be armed to protect the children. A person intent on killing school children will make a homemade bomb, poison their food, burn the building down, or will find any way possible to do it.

Wyoming has a concealed carry with or without a permit. Last week, in a large town in Wyoming, a man walked into a nail salon and pulled out a gun. A woman patron pulled out her gun from her purse and the man took off running. Now that's gun control!!

  20. Google anarchisticsoccermom.blogspot.com and read the post for Dec. 14, 'Thinking the Unthinkable.' Kids are afraid as a normalized way of life these days, and the brighter and more imaginative the kid, the greater the terror. Most of them just party and screw their asses off when they get to be teens ("Why don't I feel better, Mom?"), and some break. Somebody -- at Harvard maybe -- should do a study of the steady acid drip of fear on the undeveloped central nervous system.
