Don't try this at home

Note to self: If a 40-pound bag of dog food has been sitting outside on the damp porch for a few days, do NOT try to carry it across the living room.

The bottom WILL give out.

  2. If that's a wool rug, check out Granny Miller's remedy for cleaning in the snow :)

  3. Yet another reason why we keep our dog food and chicken food in galvanized trash cans. Also, keeps water and mice out of the food.

  4. And if you happen to forget the kitty litter out in the rain-you can count on it turning to cement. Unfortunately I have had both experiences.

    1. Wince. This got a collective groan of sympathy when I read it out loud to the family.

  8. It's amazing how many things can flash through your mind as something like this happens, right? Ugh.

  10. I can't help picturing the next few moments after your photo - you fighting the dogs back from cleaning the whole lot up for you :-) (We have two labs - we KNOW how they think!!)

  11. If the movers somehow unpack a huge box of FAB (in 1975) and leave it on a wet porch the bottom will fall out on the brand new carpet, and the guy will keep walking through the house in order to cover more carpet. Yet, he passed by the laundry room as he stepped into the house. ???

  13. This happens to bags of chicken feed as well. Had my chicks free ranging for a few days as to not totally waste what could not be picked up.

By the way, I just happened to your blog, by way of a canning page. So glad I dropped in. Have a fabulous week!
