I've always loved Leonard Cohen's song “Hallelujah.” I first heard it sung by the group Il Divo -- a spectacular performance -- and various renditions have been floating around for years.
Well here's a little 10-year-old autistic girl named Kaylee Rodgers who absolutely floored me with her performance.
This will send chills down your spine, guaranteed. As one viewer noted, "Grown man just finished a box of Kleenex. ... Whew! Thank you for touching a hardened heart, now I remember who I once was."
Merry Christmas to all.
I hope that older daughter arrived safely. I think that Lidia will be very happy as well as the parents.

Inspiring. Nothing less than amazing....
ReplyDeleteWow! "Special", indeed!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard this version before, just the standard Leonard Cohan one. This is lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so proud of this child. I have a mildly autistic grandson who might sing, but certainly not standing still. He'd likely have been standing on his head by the end of the song. LOL We have such high hopes for all our children, but especially our special ones.
If I could sing like that (I love to sing, but my musical skills are better employed while pushing a lawnmower), I wouldn't mind being a little autistic.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get that "special talent."
Beautiful!!
what a beautiful song sung by an adorable young girl. Thank you for sharing this.

Leonard Cohen was a remarkable musician. One of his tunes from the late 1960's was entitled "Seems So Long Ago, Nancy". Nancy was a young woman that took her own life in 1961, at the age of 21.
ReplyDeleteNancy was also the aunt of one of my favorite Christian bloggers, Tim Challies. In January 2011 Tim wrote an article about his late aunt and her relationship with Mr. Cohen. It can be found here:

It is well worth reading, as are almost all of his writings.
God bless, and Happy New Year!

wow for the first time you disappointed me! you should read the lyrics to that song, it is horrible and not a song that honors our Lord.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this lovely and most beautiful performance. God's Love on display is truly awe-inspiring.
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous 12/25 @ 5:15pm. You should listen to this. The lyrics were rewritten by the Christian band Cloverton 4-5 yrs ago and it DOES honor our Lord. Their performance is still my most favorite, although it has been 'covered' many times. Don't confuse Christmas Hallelujah with Cohen's very dark Hallelujah. Try youtube for their original - it's very passionate Jan in NWGA
