Adieu to an icon

I heard the sad news this morning that Shirley Temple Black passed away at the ripe age of 85.

There is much to admire about this remarkable woman. As a bouncy-curled child, her dimples and talent brought a generation through the Great Depression. She was an admired diplomat and had a loving marriage of 54 years. She gave a voice to breast cancer survivors at a time when such things were seldom discussed in public.

Rest in peace, Shirley. Entertain them upstairs, hear?

  2. My daughter had hair like Shirley Temple when she was tiny and I was beyond thrilled. Strangers would comment that they both had the same curly hair...of course it might have helped that my daughter had blond hair. Lol....

I was sorry to see that Shirley had passed on but she did leave us with a lot of fond memories and a great role model. Few and far between in these times.

    1. My goodness, me too! I lived in Wilmington then. Our costumes were the most awesome purple tutus with white polka dots...made me feel like Shirley Temple. Fond memories from 35 years ago!

  5. She had a fine run, a fairly admirable life.

Too bad we don't have more stars like her today.

From Shirley Temple to Miley Cyrus and Justin Beeber. Sheesh. Wow.

  6. Entertain them upstairs? Was she saved? Did she accept Christ as her Saviour?
