A glimpse of heaven?

Older Daughter came stumbling out of her room this morning, bleary-eyed, and declared she hadn't slept well.

"Any particular reason?" I asked.

"Don't know. Got to sleep too late, woke up too early," she replied. "But on the bright side, I had a dream about heaven."

"Wow. Was it nice?"

"Yes. There were three bookstores alone in the first five minutes."

Dreams can be weird things, yes, but bookstores in heaven -- especially for booklovers like us -- may not be such a bad thing.

Just a little humor for a cold, windy, snowy day.

  1. Despite what some say, dreams do come true. May older daughters sweet dreams continue. On a final note there is nothing wrong with being a book lover, I happen to love books myself !

  4. I hope there are libraries in heaven. I have several thousand myself. I recently read on Granny Miller's husbands blog that they have a collection of 2500 books. I left a comment for Granny asking her to post about her reading preferences and how they store their collection. Our just turned 8 year old granddaughter apparently inherited my genes for a love of reading. She is reading on a 5th grade level and prefers big books (more than 100 pages). Our 2 yr. old twin grandsons will sit for an hour or more while you read to them. I feel home libraries are as important today as they were since the discovery of the written word. Marion

I've run out of bookcases and now have piles everywhere and boxes that are overflowing this big house. I feel it is extremely important to have real books. I do not like electronic devices and with the threat of an EMP they will be an important tool. There are a lot of websites and blogs about the libraries of the world and personal libraries. 90 percent of my collection came from library sales and thrift stores. Marion

  6. Real Books FOREVER.... Ones you can hold in your hands, smell the leather, feel the binding, listening to the pages as you turn them, if they older they have their own fragrance, it is one of wisdom and knowledge and ideas.

  7. Give me a bookstore and the TIME to read and I'll think I'm in Heaven! When I find someone (and there are a lot of people like this out there) who also read for pleasure like we do in our family, I know I've found a kindred spirit.

  8. Haha, your family sounds just like mine! We all love books and love to read. My grandchildren are readers too which makes me a very happy Grammy. I love finding used book stores and always go to the library book sales as we live near a big university and the book sales are great. I can pick up stacks of books for very little money and share them with my family. When my grandkids visit they always go check out the book case in "their" room to see what's been added. Loving books and reading is a wonderful thing and should be encouraged. I hope your daughter's dream is accurate!

  9. People who have had visitations to heaven say there are libraries with lots of books in heaven. The Bible talks about books in heaven like the Lamb's Book of Life and it is a real heavenly book. Here is one of the passages that talks about books:

"And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books."

If you are not saved you will face the White Throne of Judgement with all your deeds and miss deeds written in a book. For those that are saved your past miss deeds have been wiped out by the blood of Jesus and your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life and you will go to another area for your rewards.

Heaven is the most amazing place everyone should find out more about it. God is giving many people dreams, visions and visitations to heaven in these last days. He wants people to believe in His son Jesus and be saved so they can live in this wonderful amazing place with Him which is His home.
