Connections

Back in the late 1970s, there was a British television show called Connections. The premise of the show was how discoveries, scientific advancements, historical events, and technology are all connected. I only saw one or two episodes, but it was fascinating.

Well this morning, I had my own mini-version of Connections when I received the following email:

I want to start by saying thank you for your blog! I read it every day and look forward to it. I also homeschool my children and am trying to become as prepared as possible on one income. The reason for my letter today is that my daughter has Cystic Fibrosis (a genetic disorder when pancreas and lungs blocked with mucus) and I have been searching for an over the counter digestive enzyme to stock up on and was having some trouble in doing so. That is until I read your post on making mozzarella cheese of all things!! You mentioned in your post that you use powdered lipase. That is an ingredient in her prescription medication. So that prompted me to look that up which lead me on to many other articles and an OTC medication that is very affordable to stock up on. What makes all of this even more wonderful and amazing is that my husband and I had just been going over the things we really need to do to get MORE prepared and this was number one on our list. I believe that God had his hand in this! God bless you, your family and farm in all you future endeavors!

I found this email stunning. Who'da thunk?

  1. God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform! Our family loves the series Connections (have it on VHS tapes) and we look for connections in our life too. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful letter.

  2. At our house we call this "providence". We don't believe in luck, good or bad, but divine providence. This is a very good example of it, in my opinion.
Maybe I can't hear God screaming into my ears, but I have definitely been the recipient of His providence, even just recently, after having been shuttled from one doctor to another, with nothing but "you are sick and we don't know what it is" to show for it, when in my own search for help I stumbled upon one internet link after another in rapid succession and had more hope than I had been given and with a simple OTC mineral supplement, I have experienced dramatic improvement in a plethora of symptoms that have plagued me since 1985.
God works through his people and Patrice, you are one of them. God Bless you and what you do. Is it not a true wonder that your neighbor had the milk and wanted mozzarella and you were the instrument for that, too! All things connected. Remember "It's a Wonderful Life"? It truly is.

  4. I would probably use the word, or words: jaw-dropping-holy-moly-can-you-believe-this-God-"coincidence"?

  5. Patrice, I think this might happen more often than you think. You post an awful lot of very interesting and helpful things on your blog. I'd be willing to bet that if you reviewed the comments on many of your posts, you'd find many other folks express the same sentiment as woman in the post above. And I fully do believe that God had a hand in this connection. God uses his people in all kinds of ways.

  6. I LOVE THAT SHOW! Everyone looks at me like I'm a nut when I ask them if they've seen it, I guess having hippies for parents did have a pay off after all, lol. Now I'm going to read what you actually wrote but you're the first person I've come across in ages who knew about Connections.

  12. I can tell you, God does work out all things for good for those who serve Him. I really don't think this was just some random coincidence, but it is what the folks here in SoCal call "a God thing." You may never know here on earth the lives you have touched in your service to God, but I agree with Anon 1:24, it is a wonderful life.

  13. Of course God's hand was in this! He loves us and is mindful of our needs and desires. We call these incidences "tender mercies" at our house and they happen more often than you would think!

  16. How encouraging...I know the Lord still works among His people...It is hard to find people that truly believe this....That is why this is so encouraging to me now...I have a nerve root compression in my neck and with no insurance, and both hands are pretty much worthless I am looking for just the right help I need..I know the Lord will lead me as He did this family...I will pray for this family to stand firm in the Lord...
Thank you for sharing this, Patrice...A timely post.

  18. God works miracles everyday through his people. I pray that I will do something or say something every day that He can use to bless others. Patrice, you will never know until you get to Heaven just how many ways God has used you to touch others for His kingdom. God is so good!!!

  19. "Eyes to see and ears to hear" - paid off big-time for the emailer. The Good Lord had the answer, Patrice had the medium, and a family found a solution. Doesn't get any better than that. Congrats all around.

On a personal note, I've decided to end my connection to the internet...for various reasons. And just wanted to post one last time before my service is disconnected. Patrice, it's been a great pleasure to have been able to watch you and your family on your farm. Your photos, your WND articles, your humor, recipes, and projects have been of great interest. You are a true asset for this country. Thank you for sharing your life with "friends you've never met." Good luck and God bless.

    1. Thanks for letting us know, AP. Been a pleasure having you. My husband just disconnected himself from FaceBook for what I suspect are similar reasons that you're leaving the internet. I'll have a blog post on his decision later today or tomorrow, if you want to hop back on once more...

      Best of luck to you.

    2. Dear Anonymous Patriot,
I think that I read between your lines and if I am correct, I think I understand. I've noticed several of the long timers have stopped posting or started posting under anonymous. Even this may not be enough opsec.
Deep searching about hidden agendas has revealed too much. (For anyone here naive, type in Fusion Center on your search engine and be prepared to be horrified and that is just scratching the surface). God bless you A.P.

  20. I'm single and can't even cook toast. But I sure look forward to visiting this web site every morning. I learn something every day. Today a mozzarella recipe of all things brought me closer to understanding God's ways. Montana Guy

  21. In preparing I have also found a way to get antibiotics without a prescription which has already paid for itself. Same as I get from the Dr.
