We just heard the sad news that Tim Conway passed away.
For those of us who grew up watching the Carol Burnett Show, Tim Conway was one of the funniest members of the cast, regularly busting up the also-funny Harvey Korman. This was a guy who was absolutely amazingly hilarious without profanity, vulgarity, or any other concession to modern humor.
Mr. Conway's passing, of course, comes hard on the heels of losing Doris Day.
We're losing the last generation of clean, family-friendly entertainers.
Rest in peace, Mr. Conway. You too, Miss Day.
Sorry to see him go, guess the good Lord has blessed us with his presence long enough, has other uses for him. This guy has always been one of the great funny guys, without even trying, along the lines of Red Skelton, Don Rickles, Carol Burnett, and others of his peers, along with the British favorite Benny Hill.
ReplyDeleteRIP funny man you brought joy to countless thousands upon thousands.
All the decent entertainers are leaving us, leaving mostly trash behind.
ReplyDeleteMy parents raised us on "old school" Disney movies. I grew up experiencing Tim Conway in the Apple Dumpling Gang. He worked so well with Don Knots. Still one of my favorite movies. Can't wait to show them to my kids.
ReplyDeleteThat's odd. That pic doesn't even look like young Doris Day.
ReplyDeleteI loved Tim Conway. One of the finest physical comedians in the business - and yes, without any sort of thing that litters today's comedy.
ReplyDeleteTo this day I still watch those Carol Burnett clips on YouTube. His Siamese Elephant ad lib always makes me laugh to tears. And while a tad vulgar, Vicki Lawrence's response was always be a classic. I thought Dick Van Dyke was was going to faint, he was laughing so hard. Brings a smile even thinking about it. I think I'll go watch it again right now.
ReplyDeleteYep, still funny
ReplyDeleteTim Conway was a wonderful comedian. I loved him on Carol Burnett. Have you watched him on McHale's Navy? We get it on a channel that plays old shows. We are losing the old ones and there is no one to replace them.

The dentist skit is by far my favorite! I always had a sweet spot for Tim in my heart because he came from near my home town. It's always sad to lose a true classic. Prayers for the Conway and Day families. It's a shame we don't have such classy people in the entertainment industry anymore.
ReplyDeleteHe was the best. Loved watching him on CB, growing up.
ReplyDeleteTim Conway was the funniest! His humor extended to his autobiography, which had me laughing out loud. I had the opportunity to see Tim & Harvey in person when they had a "road trip" after the Carol Burnett show ended. They did the dentist skit and had people literally falling off their seats.
