I need help!

Are you in good physical condition? Do you, or someone you know, need some income for five days' work? Are you close to Portland, Oregon?

I am getting ready for my annual sales trip to Portland and find myself in a quandary. The usual people I hire to help work my booth are unavailable, and even Manpower hasn’t come through with any temp help.

Therefore I am in need of a person (preferably a man, or a woman with physical presence) to assist me with this outdoor sales event from Wednesday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26. This person will be on hand to keep an eye out for shoplifters and to assist in sales (for those moments where I'm busy).

Minimum requirements are:

• Able to stand for several hours at a time.

• A clear, articulate speaker (mumblers can’t be heard over the noise of the crowds and loud music)

If you’re interested, or know someone who is (grown sons?), please reply to this post with your email address or other contact info (don’t worry, I won’t post it).

  5. Would you mind posting when the position is filled? My husband is trying to sort if a prior commitment is going to fall through. He would love to come work with you!

  6. Hi Patrice,
I posted this also in your "newbie" spot, but thought I might put it here also. It is an article you might be interested in concerning the possibility of earthquakes in the PNW.

  7. This is not related to this post (although I did forward your plea to a young man in Portland who is in need of work), but I read this article in the New Yorker and immediately thought of you and your blog. I'd love to hear your take on it, when you have the time to write it.

  8. I'd love to help, but the airplane ticket from across the country is quite the deterrent - the best deal I found was $650 roundtrip; if it had been $200 or $300 I'd consider it.

  9. Perhaps post this job opening on the Portland Craigslist?
