My Google followers just exceed 800! I was going to take a snapshot of the even 800 when it happened (I was at 799 last night) but I gained two more followers during the night (greetings to Faith and Sandra).
Thank you, dear readers, for your faithfulness in following our humble lives.
Congrats on 801!
ReplyDeleteLooking at your great pic of canned goods (nothing so beautiful as shelves filled with canned goods) a thought came to me. Earthquakes are everywhere and if an earthquake happened in your area, all those beautiful jars would be on the floor. There has to be a way to protect them and keep the jars on the shelves.

Funny you should mention that, I'll be picking up some brackets today in order to do just that.

Could you take a picture of the brackets after you put them on you shelves? I would like to know how you did it.

Even a run of taught paracord a couple of inches off the base of the shelf can make a big difference in stopping the jars shaking off the shelf. Of-course you'll still loose them all if the shelf topples over.
ReplyDeleteFor the instances where you have the jars double high with no space above the top jar I don't know what you could do to keep the jar on the shelf while still allowing you access. Maybe some form of elastic cord?
Love the picture of your canned goods. It's beautiful. I just started canning this year and the jars are adding up. My husband made a very large storage shelf for me and he make sure the shelf would be earthquake proof.

Does this counter factor in your RSS readers? I doubt it. I'd be surprised if you didn't have far more readers than 800. I don't think I follow your blog on Blogger, but I have been a subscribed reader on Google Reader for a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteNo, the Google number is just those readers who also have Google accounts and sign up to follow the blog. I'm sure there's some overlap with the Google followers and the RSS readers. The blog sees about 60,000+ visitors per month, bless all their l'il hearts.

Congratulations Patrice!! I love your new picture of your canned goods too. :)
ReplyDeleteYour canning closet photo is a thing of beauty. You mentioned in your post on canning a few days ago that you have a sudden sense of urgency to get things put into storage. I must say, I am feeling the same way and I expect so are many, many others. Thank you again for all you share on your blog.
