Down to the wire

I got up at 2:30 am this morning. Sadly, this is nothing unusual; I'm an early riser anyway, and once I'm awake I have a hard time going back to sleep (i.e. at 2:30 in the morning), so often I just get up. Early mornings are an excellent time to get stuff done on the computer.

Which is exactly that I did this morning. Tomorrow I leave for the Northwest Preparedness Expo in Prosser, Washington, and I needed to get my slides (visuals) finalized for my talk.

This is the third or fourth (I forget) time I've spoken at this expo, and it's a small but excellent opportunity to learn a lot about preparedness in general.

It's amazing how much time and energy goes into getting a one-hour talk ready to go, including visuals. I'm down to the wire and need to get everything finalized.

I spend today packing and tomorrow driving. I hope anyone in the area has the chance to attend!

  1. Welcome to the Yakimaa Valley. The weather is cooling down for the weekend, but the wind will be blowing.
Other commitments will keep me from attending, would sure like to hear your presentation.
Have a safe trip, enjoy the valley, and enjoy the whole program.

  2. When I was in the Army, I had a commander who said "If you are going to give a class for 1 hr. then, you need to spend 5 hrs. getting ready for the class".

  3. In one of the first photos in this series the cow on the left has an interesting set of "fantasy horns" (from the tree in the distance), was that on purpose?

    1. Nope, that was totally by accident. Quite a set of antlers, right?
