Cold enough to freeze the anatomy off a brass monkey

This was the temperature yesterday morning, March 11:

This is me freezing my anatomy while milking Matilda's anatomy:

Not a happy combination. Ice cream, anyone?

Fortunately it's a balmy -2 this morning.

These temperatures are, like, seriously low for this time of year. Damn, where's that global warming when we need it?

  3. The racist label is being used to make people afraid to criticize Obama. I found many references to cartoons equating Bush to monkeys but I guess that's ok because he is white?

In fact, you will find MANY hateful parodies and cartoons about Bush if you search. But suddenly, because THIS President is Black we can't have the same level of parody and criticism we had for others? I have a new name for Obama - The Untouchable.

I for one, will not be silenced by being called a racist. If that is what you call a racist, then I will proudly wear that label. If being a racist means questioning one's government, then so be it.

I'm used to being called a racist already because I want my government to stop illegal immigration. Never mind that many people who ALSO want illegal immigration stopped happen to be Black, Hispanic, Asian etc. The irony is I was called a racist when protesting against the unjust imprisonment of two Hispanic border agents! Their mantra of throwing around the racist label is so knee-jerk that they fail to stop and consider the ridiculousness of calling a bunch of Hispanics protesting illegal immigration racist.

So, for me, the label means nothing. Bring it on I say!

  4. Do you know the origin of 'Cold Enough to Freeze the Balls of a Brass Monkey'? It has nothing to do with anatomy!
In the days of armed sailing ships, cannon balls were stacked on a piece called a 'Brass Monkey' that held them in place - when it got cold enough, the brass shrunk more than the iron did and the stack of cannon balls fell because the brass no longer held the bottom layer of cannon balls in place.
