I came back from cleaning the barn and feeding the cows early one morning, when I saw a silver trail on our back deck.
In fact, the wobbly silver trail tracked all over the place.
It wasn't hard to find the source: A leopard slug. Just follow the trail.
Leopard slugs are fascinating critters. Last year I was privileged to witness their mating behavior, something I had never thought about until I saw it in action. Yowza.
But this slug was solo. I picked it up to admire it for a few moments...
...then yeeted it over the edge of the deck to the grass below. Be free, little slug.
Have you considered naming your property the Flying Slug Ranch? :-)
