Our cows are doing great.
If you recall, we have Filet and Mignon, an Angus cow/calf pair, as well as Maggie the Jersey heifer.
They're pretty low maintenance at this stage. No milking, no calves, not even winter feeding (yet).
We had Maggie bred in mid-August, and as far as we can see, the breeding "took." Filet, however, was bred before we got her, which means she was bred in early to mid May, which means she'll be having her calf mid to late February.
This means Filet is only about five months along, which means she shouldn't be "showing" that much yet.
But she's enormous. Look at that girth.
Twins? We don't know. Time will tell.
Be prepared. Do your research on twins. Mother usually rejects one which would mean, at best, at bottle calf for you.
ReplyDeleteyyyyeeeeeaaaaaa....years ago i worked with a gal who suddenly mover her wedding up because (excuse).
ReplyDeleteshe got pregnant on her wedding night. 7 months later she had a two month premee....8 pounds 8 ounces....
think filet may be telling stories about her conception date.
That's really funny, actually. My parents had a Wedding of Shame in 1963. They got married in January and my brother was born in July. Know when I found out their wedding date? When I was 55 and my father had died. They did have a long, happy marriage.
