Lopsided boy

We've had a handsome young buck hanging around who is decidedly lopsided. That is, one antler is gone. He passed near the house this morning and I was able to get a few (kinda blurry) photos.

It looks like the upper portion snapped off at some point, leaving a stump still covered in velvet.

Yes, decidedly lopsided.

Better view in this shot:

Presumably this won't affect (too much) his chances during the rutting season, but time will tell.

In the mean time, it's nice to be able to pick him out from the crowd.

  1. It'll make him a less attractive target during hunting season anyhow! Til he regrows them the next year at least.

  2. Have you ever found antlers that have been lost?

  3. No matter how long ya cook the horns, ya still can’t eat em. Wouldn’t stop me from pulling the trigger.
