  1. As always you are right on. Congratulations for writing for Lehman's. I am we have someone in our neck of the woods, that can write about every aspect of homesteading, that has lived it first hand.
Here's to a great weekend at the Lewis farm.

  2. Hope this isn't a duplicate--
You might rethink the peanuts. I picked up a 3-pack of peanuts at my garden center last summer. They grew into lovely plants and I was able to harvest my own peanuts. Not a huge crop by any means but they grew!

  3. My family and I are hoping to escape the socialist state of IL. to your wonderful ID. We have visited it several times. I am a bird hunter can you give me an idea around where you are located and if the are any birds to hunt?

    1. We're not hunters, but I would recommend picking any lake -- of which Idaho has a plentiful supply of BIG ones -- and try there. The Idaho panhandle (where we live) has, for example, has Lake Pend Oreille, Priest Lake, Lake Coeur d'Alene, and the Dworshak Reservoir, as well as endless smaller lakes. We have geese galore, swans, ducks, etc. I'm sure any of these lakes would supply you with bird hunting opportunities.
