Remember that old song, "How much is that doggy in the window?" Here's a version sung by Patti Page:
That's the song that came to mind one day as I sat in the car in the parking of a hardware store. Don had dashed inside for just a moment. Idly glancing in my side view mirror, this is what I saw:
Is this not the most photogenic group of canines imaginable?
There's some serious Irish Wolfhound genes in this truck, except for the solo black Lab.
This is why I always try to keep my camera on me. Ya never know what kind of "doggies in the window" might come along.
Being Irish, my dream has always been to have an Irish Wolfhound. They may not all be Wolfhounds, but they're adorable and their family is lucky to have them.
ReplyDeleteThey look like German Wirehaired pointers. Good hunting dogs.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture!!
ReplyDeleteThose aren’t wolfhounds. They are wire-haired pointers (I’d say German Wire-haired but I could be wrong) Nice looking dogs.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Thanks for sharing - glad you had your camera handy! Ruff ruff ruff!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to sing that song to us when we were little!
They also might be Wirehaired Pointing Griffons.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbors had one of these dogs. Yes, Griffons
DeleteYes. They are Griffons. Best dogs ever!
DeleteGreat photo Patrice. Thank you. Speaking of Irish Wolfhounds and sort of going back to a recent comment I submitted in your “books” section, where I gave a list of my favorite books about ranch women, the contemporary American West, etc…, I forgot one book.
ReplyDeleteAuthor Pam Houston has an excellent memoir about her Creede, Colorado ranch, featuring her pack of Irish Wolfhounds (among other critters). They sound like a very goofy, sensitive, and loving breed. The book is called Deep Creek: Finding Hope In the High Country.
Pam’s book also gives a riveting, multi-chapter description of one season of wildfires. The emotional terror along with a play-by-play of technical details of wildfire fighting gave me a much needed understanding that I have not received from just seeing and reading news stories about that. (Boy, that was run-on sentence if I’ve ever seen one!). I just love it when a book includes animals, and weather as main characters.
Many blessings to y’all
Don’s mother, also my mother, taught me that song and we would sing it together in the car…
ReplyDeleteI think they are on their way to a poker game.
