Will you still need me, will you still feed me....

Consider these lyrics from the Beatles' iconic song "When I'm Sixty-Four":

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
If it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine forevermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty four?

Don is 64 years old today! And every word of this song is true. I love the man even more than the day I married him back in 1990. Happy birthday honey!

  1. Happy Birthday Don, I wished I were 64 again. Hint, nothing changes in your thinking or feelings only your body will do a bit of rebelling.

  3. Happy Birthday to Don! I gotta say, that age seemed soooo far away when this song came out, but not so far away now.

  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON. Almost to the over-the-hill gang. I have been there for a "few years". They are enjoyable also especially when with the person you truly love and who truly loves you.

  6. 1957 was truly a great year! My husband and I were both born in that year. Happy Birthday to Don from a couple of fellow 64 year olds. (Well, I won't be until December, but close enough.)
