Prayer request

I just received an hysterical phone call from one of our old neighbors. She was sobbing so uncontrollably that I had a hard time understanding her. But the long and short of it is, our old neighborhood is going up in flames even as we speak. She was crying because her husband hadn't made it out.

Half an hour later we were able to confirm he escaped the flames, presumably with the clothes on his back and nothing else. But we learned homes of two neighbors have already burned down, and if the wind doesn't shift, the whole neighborhood will go up in smoke. Homes, livestock, gardens, forests, fields, hopes, dreams.

I'm shaking as I'm typing this. One more day -- just one more flippin' day and the weather would have turned. Tomorrow temperatures are supposed to plummet 25 degrees and a chance of rain is moving in.

But it's too late for our old neighborhood.

Please pray. Pray hard.

  16. So sorry to hear of it. I also live in the fire zone and experience them on a yearly basis. Ea. Wa. does have its share or more.
You have to keep in mind when trying to get through stuff like this. Fire is permanent, water is permanent, the weather will do what it does when and how it chooses. Nature and natural forces Always win. Humans, not so much.

  20. Prayers for your friends. I unfortunately can relate. We lost our home in 2018 to the Paradise Camp Fire in NorCal. I was probably one of many frantic wives waiting for their husbands and children to make it out. Words are not enough, but my thoughts are with you all.

  21. Prayers for your old neighborhood. Also that your, Enola's area, and Will & Jackie Atkinson stay safe. The fire is east of Jackie's, but I interned in that area in college and knew it well. So very glad your friend's husband made it out. Remind her THAT is a huge blessing. And your neighbors.

My story is not going well. You know about that. After 34 years I have many Blessings to count and am thankful for them all.
