Peekaboo

Yesterday evening I was standing out in the driveway with Mr. Darcy on a leash, waiting for Don to join me so we could take the canine on his evening walk.

I happen to glance through a gate into the pasture. Can you see what I saw?

This lady was bedded down, watching us.

Shortly thereafter, she up and ran away.

Speaking of deer, these two handsome young bucks were hanging around the other day.

I wonder if they're brothers?

One soon hopped the fence, followed shortly thereafter by the other.

Handsome young things.

  1. Hi Patrice. Your photos are consistently GREAT. Thank you for taking and posting them. I wonder if there might be some way to work some photos, or traces from photos, into your fiction. Best, Keith

  2. I also have deer going through the property, the heat and smoke has brought more down from the mountains. As we cross paths I have noticed that if I do not look at them as in a stare they simply go on their way. I am sure they know me and that I am not a threat to them. Of course now that I finally got a fence around my garden they are disappointed.

  3. Do those leaping deer give you a rough estimate of the height of the fence your garden will need?

    1. Oh, we already know how high our garden fences will be. Ten feet, baby. And we'll be ready to raise them higher if need be. We ain't messing around this time.

  4. Doesn't look like you really need to raise beef! It is going to be tough driving at night with the amount you have.

    1. We took Darcy walking yesterday evening and counted at least 20 deer on our short walk.
