I just received the final art work for a Harlequin Love Inspired book entitled "Keeping Amish Secrets" coming out next April. I thought it turned out beautifully.
Sometimes the art department at Harlequin hits it out of the park, and sometimes it doesn't. I thought this one was a hit and I like the cover very much.
Aside from this book, I have another coming out in December entitled "The Amish Spinster's Hidden Past."
It's funny: The interim between when I submit a completed manuscript and when I receive the copy edits often can be months, so going over the copy edits is a chance to read the story with a fresh eye. At the time I submitted the completed manuscript, I felt rushed and wasn't pleased with how it turned out. My editor didn't have a problem with it, however, and once I re-read it I liked it very much. In fact, I would rank it among the better stories I've written, so go figure.
My current writing status: I turned in my latest manuscript last month (working title: "The Widow") and am awaiting review, though I'm confident there won't be a problem with its acceptance. Meanwhile, "The Widow" was the last submission in my latest six-book contract, so my agent and editor are negotiating what I hope will be another multi-book contract.
Ah, I love writing for Harlequin.

Congrats! Today I am putting final touches on my latest book, a ghost story. Then off to my agent. I also finally figured out the most stone-cold ending to the book so I am happy with it. (Think Damian smiling at the end of The Omen.)

Do you know anything about writing for the Hallmark Channel? Maybe there's more money in screenplays for their endless romances than Harlequin. Not that there's anything wrong with Harlequin--you can writer for both and mo' money, mo' good, ha. I actually starting writing one just for laughs called Off the Leash! about a smalltown country inn owner with dogs who falls for the handsome single new vet in town, but I never got very far. I'm not really a romance kinda girl.
DeleteNo, I don't know much about it. Sometimes printed novels get picked up for movie rights, but I don't expect to fall into that category because Hallmark doesn't make Amish-themed movies (maybe they should?). Hallmark might be worth looking into, though.
