Launch day!

This is it, folks! It's launch day for my inaugural romance novel, The Amish Newcomer.

As I mentioned before, I am blatantly asking you to buy the book. If you're a guy, give it to your wife/daughter/grandmother. The reason for this shameless request is because I want to show strong numbers to the publisher in hopes it will assure future projects. So here's an Amazon link, and here's a Harlequin link. If a lot of people purchase the book on this, its launch day, it creates a "book bomb" that pushes stats into the stratosphere (if only for one day).

So far the book has gotten excellent review, and I've received some lovely emails. My favorite so far:

"I have read probably a hundred Amish novels but none have compared to yours. WOW!! I have always love reading about the simple Amish life style but none has ever described it the way you did in the book. I felt for the first time i was really seeing how Amish view life and English culture. It has made me realize that much of my anxiety really is caused by info overload. How by watching less news and setting my electronics aside i can feel less stressed and anxious. This book was definitely needed for our current times. Your story was great and I loved your characters. Excellent book. Can't wait for your next book."

My Harlequin mentor Cheryl Williford also gave me a charming plug.

SurvivalBlog kindly gave me a mention.

Oh...and my mom said the book made her teary-eyed in spots. Can I ask for higher praise?

If you're around for it, I also invite you to participate in a Harlequin Facebook chat which will take place today (Tues. September 1) at 1 pm Eastern. The link to the chat isn't set to go live until the chat starts.

So there you go, folks. I'm being shameless here. I covet those strong numbers at Harlequin, which will help launch this new phase in my writing career. And if you have a blog, Facebook account, Twitter account, or other social media platform and could give me a shout-out, I'd be so grateful.

Thank you!

  4. Ma'am,
I'm not in the suggested reading demographic but I'm all for helping a new writer out. I pick it up from my local Barnes&Noble in a few minutes.

  18. Congratulations on your book launch. I got an email from amazon saying it had downloaded to my kindle.

You wrote, "If you're a guy, give it to your wife/daughter/grandmother." Really? It's not my typical pick, but I've read four or five "Amish romance novels." Reading about people outside of the mainstream, e.g. Amish, Hasidic Jews, Roma, broadens my understanding of life. Romance novels generally are written by and for women, and it's good to see things from that perspective, especially w/o politics. And, the standard of craftsmanship in the romance genre is noticeable higher than in popular fiction generally. They're just good reads.

  19. I read the whole thing last night! It was wonderful and I told my husband that I was sad when it was over. I loved how 3 dimensional the supporting characters are. Can't wait for the next one!
