She is an older hen and sometimes she lays 'rubber eggs' - no hard shell, just a membrane with a yolk. When you pick them up, they jiggle like jello! Sometimes there is an egg shell but it is empty. She is a pet, so 'ol Ethel will live out her days in comfort and not have to worry about the soup pot!
