How people spent their time

Here's a short 50-second clip on how people spent their time, from 1932 through 2024.

In 1932, most people spent their time with family:

And today:

Notable caption on the clip: "And we wonder why society is in decline..."

  1. 1. Who says society is in decline? 2. Where do these stats even come from? 3. Where is work on that list? 4. I like being online. I don't see much difference between commenting right here and now and chatting with a neighbor.

    1. Yes, I also wonder where work fits in... far too much for me, and a good deal of it is in front of a computer ;) KinCa

  2. Family, School and Friends have been replaced by sitting in front of a computer-screen/dumb-phone, so much for interaction with people huh?
Yeah, I’d say that’s a problem with Society

Geeee, I wonder why that is?
Ohhhh That's right, don't use those skills when playing computer games all day.

  4. Very sad, but true. This example was first set by TV. That isn't in the stats. Before that, the big radio that family gathered around. We essentially isolated well before I was born in 1972. We raised our kids on books. Online was needed for their charter school. Church multiple times a week. The world wrecked us anyways. Not much relationship, but our kids have very good jobs. Daughter, a project engineer and son, a geologist. They work hard and are respected in their fields. They communicate and look you in the eye. It is lonely for us, no grandkids in the future, but they are quality adults for their generation of 31 and 29 years of age. God is still good. Look for kids to mentor, even if only a few words of encouragement here or there. The generation coming up now looks encouraging!
