In-your-face stuff from an opinionated
rural north Idaho housewife.
Just when I think I've heard it all.
When I was young, I learned fairly early not to try to pull these kinds of stunts on much older people ...Obviously this kid hasn't been taught this lesson, and so I have a lovely way to help him learn it.Everyone with the means to do so should ship at least one hundred straws to his home address. But while we're in the giving mood, why not send at least a thousand straws to the California state representative who thinks this nonsense is a good idea to enact into law? They should suck on this idea, the both of them.
Incompetence of our law makers is reaching new heights. Whether it be local, at the state capital or Washington DC. No one political party can lay claim to being the most incompetent, they all are in the same boat. Thinking that term limits, say about 30 days, might help.
Did you know that there is more plastic on the bottom of the ocean than there are fish? No one is going to be fined, they just want more awareness.Straws are just a minuscule piece of the picture. Now we are about to lose our most precious parks (that WE own) to more greed as our air, water and the planet continues to stay in a state of COPD.Rome is burning and you are worried about a state's small effort to clean up our mess with regard to the huge waste factor that comes from plastic straws? Look at the bigger picture.J.
And you think it's right to jail WAITERS, or fine them a month's income, for offering ONE straw to a customer? Why not go after straw manufacturers? Perspective, man, perspective.- Patrice
If the goal was to create more awareness, why pick on WAITERS? They're not to blame.- Patrice
We are a spoiled nation. We want what we want when we want it. Saving this planet, I'm sure, will be painful at times...but it is the right thing to do if we want to survive the damage we've already created.Don't worry, no one will be arrested and no one's going to jail. It's called baby steps towards changing the mind set of the current populace. We have a long ways to go.California has always been the avant-garde towards that notion and will probably continue to be.J.
