Don't leave home without 'it'

Here's my WND column for this weekend, entitled "Don't Leave Home Without 'It'."

Also, some cheery words from a "fan":

"Sorry, Patrice, you’ve been hoodwinked by the propaganda of that criminal organization and terrorist group, the NRA , which stands for “Nuts, Racists and Assholes “, if you’ll pardon the language . There is no such thing as a “gun free zone,” - they’re an urban legend. No “good people with guns”

have ever stopped a mass shooting and saved anyone.Open carry is not only stupid, but extremely dangerous and totally unnecessary . It’s much too easy for guns to go off accidentally and wound or kill the gun owners or bystanders . This is happened too many times already .

If you want to keep guns, it’s best to keep them home, safely locked up . More people have been killed so far in recent years by toddlers playing with loaded guns left out by their idiot parents than Muslim terrorists in America .

Gun control is NOT “gun confiscation “ any more than being required to have a driver’s license means confiscating your car . Number of guns confiscated by the “evil Obama administration “ so far after eight years : ZERO. Zip. Nada. Bupkis. Not a single gun . “Obama is coming for your guns ?”

Sure, and Godzilla is heading toward New York to destroy it . Obama isn’t coming for your guns, my dear . The Republican party is coming for your social security and medicaid - and the benefits of millions of other gullible Americans . Dump Trump the chump !!!"

  2. An interesting response from someone who probably doesn't see the problem with, "Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?" Just one example,

"No “good people with guns” have ever stopped a mass shooting and saved anyone."

Of course not. The "good people" were obeying the law and had left their guns in the car. It is hard to stop a mass murderer when all you have is your ticket stub.

I hope someone is around to protect the writer if there is every any danger.

    Grace and peace.

  3. Unfortunately, your fan doesn't understand what it means to work as a team. Obama may not have taken one gun, but what he has done rather effectively is attempt via shaming to recast putting one's own family and country first as the ultimate evil. He has cast the Boy Scout Motto of "Be Prepared" as somehow uncharitable and xenophobic, but then when one is chastened to believe that the feelings of a "transgender", who apparently doesn't feel comfortable among men, as more important than the natural feeling of girls to not be exposed around those who are factually male, well, Obama has taken a lot.

Guns are merely tools. It is the ideology of the one who would use them or not that is critical. And Americans have been increasingly stripped of the ammunition of rational thought.

Perhaps if the left stopped lionizing their political leaders as gods they would understand that nobody on the right is looking to Trump in that way. Rather the man, thank God, that is the real one, has been gifted with the chutzpah to call it as he sees it. As we all still see it without the superimposed guilt trip that the left has bet will be their ticket to godhood.

it is natural to worship, in our genes. since the left are often atheistic, their genes call for a god, so they fill the void with a false one.
      just a theory.

  5. "It’s much too easy for guns to go off accidentally and wound or kill the gun owners or bystanders "

This shows the author of that statement knows little or nothing about firearms. They don't "go off" by themselves. People make them discharge,

Cars don't run people over, people make cars run people over. Same-Same with firearms.

The author of the above has an unreasonable fear of firearms, likely because someone told 'em things and they believed what they were told without ever finding out for themselves.

But that is a problem with liberals in general, on most topics. They are strident about their beliefs, but they know little about what they believe.

    Stay safe.

  6. Your 'fan' and his/her comment has been 'disappeared' on WND.

WND describes themselves as 'A Free Press for a Free People'. But they are shills for warmongering Republican Neocons. These wolves in sheep clothes are a much greater danger to liberty and our love ones than people like the 'fan'.

    2. Hey Montana Guy, don't you just hate it when it isn't the gun that went off "half-cocked", but was actually you that did?

Assumptions are the major source of all screw-ups. You just demonstrated what happens when a person allows their bias do their thinking for them while in a rush to fling a zinger at Patrice rather than thinking for themselves. People like you will end up looking like a fool every single time...... much like the "fan" that wrote that silly ignorant comment. That pesky saying about assuming rings true.... "Making an ass out of you and anti-gun "fans" once again.

    4. Matt, welcome. Yea, I have a habit of taking flak. ha ha. But like they say, 'If you are not taking flak, you are not even flying over the battlefield". Anyways, most of it comes from lurkers, like Patrice's 'fan'. The way I look at it, it is the cost of actually speaking truths and making contributions.

So Matt, now that you've fired some flak, I hope you'll be making some contributions.

Actually what you say is largely true, still it never hurts to know one's facts ahead of time and not make bold and bad assumptions before sticking one's neck out for no gain.

  8. Your 'fan' points out that a handgun in the hands of a good person never stopped a mass shooting but they left out that the recent mass shooting were done at 'gun free zones'. These shooters (or their handlers) plan out where to go and are at least bright enough to go where the sheep are without a sheepdog.

As for a good, armed citizen stopping a mass shooting a 15 second Google search produces enough results to convince anyone without their head buried in the sand that an armed citizenry is a safer world.

A really funny search result is the disproportional number of mass shooters that are registered Democrats - The people that want more gun control. Maybe they are right, no guns for Democrats could make the Nation safer.

What frustrates this homesteader with a conceal carry license in Illinois is this..."More people have been killed so far in recent years by toddlers playing with loaded guns left out by their idiot parents than Muslim terrorists in America . " Where is her data? What was her source? Who did the research? But when you ask a liberal those questions, their feelings get hurt and the last thing we want is hurt feelings right?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Liberals tend to feel not think. As to his no one with a gun has stopped a mass shooting he is just wrong. Of course those incidents never show up in the press that he reads so it has just never happened for him. I too would rather rely on myself instead of the cops who get there just in time to clean up the mess not protect the people.

  13. Well, I'm with you. It would be cool to catch the fireworks display in Pittsburgh this year-- I've never seen a major city's display, and I'm told that the fireworks over the Three Rivers are awesome.

But I think we'll stay home. There will be hotdogs and marshmallows and soda-pop, maybe some beer if everyone who wants to drink can secure a designated driver or walk home. We'll
put up the tent for the kiddos and have a nice little fire. Maybe some sparklers for the older kids and, if I'm lucky, political discussion 'round the fire.

I'll pass on the gatherings, whether I'm armed or not. My therapist assures me I already have PTSD, after all.

As for your "fan"... I'd LOL if the sheer numbers of people who would rather be protected and provided for than be responsible didn't scare the ever-loving crap out of me.

  14. Guns in the hands of citizens save lives everyday. It is impossible to measure how much crime would increase if private ownership of guns was ended. Right now ever criminal has to consider is the homeowner of the house they are breaking into armed and waiting for them? This is why criminals prefer the weak and probably unarmed among us. They rarely ever attack an honest citizen who is obviously armed. Our media does not do an adequate job of reporting those cases where the mere presence of a gun in the hands of an honest citizen stops a crime.

  15. Obama may not have directly confiscated any firearms but his administration has blocked the return and sale of thousands of firearms like M1A's M-1 carbines and 1911's from South Korea along with millions of rounds of ammo from other countries. His minions and administration cronies have also tried to get hundreds of thousands of Americans banned from owning guns thorough the use of government compiled lists with little no incite into how someone get's put on them or a legal process.

Democrats as a whole have confiscated thousands of firearms over the years however with bogus legislation claiming to "protect Women" that will allow law enforcement to confiscate firearms simply because a Woman files an automatically granted Ex Parte order. These orders take effect immediately and bar the accused of possessing or buying a firearm with the actual trials set for the order taking sometimes months and the accused even if found innocent never getting his firearms back when it is over.

So yes Obama and the democrats have been coming for, and actually getting some of our guns for years now with plenty of allies like your idiot fan standing around cheering them on and attempting to cover for them as well.

  17. And what will your "fan" do if/when he/she is attacked or assaulted? Oh yes - call the authorities. You know the ones who can chose to come OR NOT TO COME to your aid? Remember that their right to chose not to come has been upheld by the US Supreme Court - and I believe more than once. Of course when there is *nothing* to defend or protect I guess there is no need. 18. Interesting comment about no good guy with a gun ever stopping a mass shooting. If the good guy shoots the bad guy at the beginning of what would have been the rampage, it never becomes a mass shooting. His statement is true ONLY because of this fact. If the good guy with gun HAD NOT been there, it would/could have become a mass shooting. This is a person who would spend his/her last breath arguing about the number of angels on the head of a pin. Pay him/her no mind. He/she is a special kind of carefully cultivated ignorance.

  19. If you were able to engage this person in a rational debate--which is a big if--you still wouldn't change his mind. When I've talked with people like this about guns, I've found that they have an attitude that guns are bad and people shouldn't have them. Everything else flows from and justifies that belief. At some level they have to be effectively responded to, or others might be influenced by them (which has already happened on the national scene). But on a personal level, he's a lost cause (but I wouldn't be surprised if he owns one or more guns himself).

  20. I might add that there has been quiet gun confiscation going on for a couple of years now. I learned from retired vet that the Feds are quietly disarming our older veterans - you keep your guns and you forfeit your federal veteran's benefits.

Indeed - the whole lot that staged the sit in last week should be up for removal from office. When they took their oath of office it included a pledge to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Their word means nothing - and that goes straight to the top. Natokadn

  21. I carry a gun around here in Kentucky because a cop is too heavy. There are millions of poor souls in the US like this commenter. When the music finally stops, reality will set in and he or she will be on their own, having to defend them selves from their own created protected classes. The stupid; it Bern's.

  22. What a nauseating diatribe of leftist propaganda. Patrice you've been spammed...

  23. Your "fan" is incorrect, anyway. Just in the past 6 years, there have been at least 8 different potential mass shootings which have been stopped by a good guy with a gun. (Probably more, but I personally know of 8.)The one that immediately comes to mind for me, given that I live in Oregon, was the Clackamas Town Center shooting back in Dec 2012. There have also been incidents in New York, May 2010; Tennessee. Aug 2010; South Carolina, Mar 2012; Oregon, Jan 2014; Utah, April 2014; Utah, May 2014; and Pennsylvania, July 2014.

And no, toddlers haven't killed more people than terrorists. In the most recent numbers I could find, there were 15 people shot and killed by toddlers in 2015 (13 of those 15, the toddler shot and killed him or herself). While that is an APPALLING number (SERIOUSLY people, lock up your guns while you have small children in the house!!!!) it's not anywhere close to the 49 killed in Orlando last week, and I would say that was definitely a terrorist act.

As far as "there is no such thing as a 'gun free zone'"... say WHAT? Federal buildings, federal parks, and schools are gun-free zones. States and businesses are allowed to create more on top of that. Where on earth did your commenter get THAT idea???

So... eh, nice try, but nope.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yup.... carrying a cop is much too heavy for me. Like my .44 special, 9 mm, or my .45 auto 1911. Just depends on what the situation is on what is carried.

Why wait for minutes for a cop to show up when seconds count. Personally I think your "fan" is nuts! Unfortunately there are many out there just like that "fan".

I also agree that the folks that did the sit in at the capitol should resign. When are these people going to wake up to the real danger of radical terrorism? Islamic or otherwise. Funny you didn't here much about guns after the Boston Marathon bombing did you..... Still nothing about knife banning after the beheadings either....

  25. I wish that I had a public forum with a really large audience to teach the history of Islam and Germany. Islam is a dangerous system of philosophy. Hitler's Germany is a mirror reflection of America today

    1. Outdoor Man, I hear you but trying to teach history to today’s Americans would be like teaching a pig to sing. They have been so dumbed-down and indoctrinated (much like Hitler) by government schools, their lap-dog media, and phony ‘universities’ with their fraudulent degrees.

      Case in point:
An 8th grade exam of 1912 was found in Kentucky. I will bet my Birkenstocks that 99% of today college graduates would fail it:

  26. Calling the NRA a "terrorist organization" is just a tried an true way of dehumanizing one's opponent in order to make attacks easier. It's emotionally easier than accepting that the NRA is the nation's largest civil rights group (take that, ACLU) made up of 5 million people who voluntarily give their money to an organization that fights for 2nd Amendment rights.

Let him/her go unarmed and be a victim if he/she so desires. But don't dare demand that I become a defenseless victim.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The reason for calling a cop is because they have GUNS!! Which just proves the point that to stop a criminal use a gun...and it is quicker to use one of your own instead of waiting for the cops to show up. And as others have said carrying a cop around is hard to do:)

  29. Patrice and all who commented:

To paraphrase an old Japanese saying- "The 'NARRATIVE' may confound reason, but reason may never be allowed to confound the 'NARRATIVE'!"

SJWs, like other true believers, do not use reason, they follow the narrative they have accepted. It is rarely possible to get them to take off their blinders. On those rare occasions, which usually are the result of them serendipitously surviving some potentially lethal assault or trauma, they may be accessible to differing opinions.

Regrettably, the most common such occurrence based on my experience is rape or partner abuse. THAT is the level of disruption required to shake the True Believer's preconceptions, and break the Narrative. Even then, many such still adhere to their Narrative. Reason does not work with such people, because they will NOT ALLOW IT TO DO SO.

Sort of like dealing with drunks and junkies, you have to let them bottom and and realize they have been wrong all their lives and they need help, before it is worth your time to engage with reason.

Sad, but true. You cannot help everyone. Now, it is worthwhile to rebut such foolishness for the sake of those reading who have not made up their minds, but do not think you will ever persuade the SJW.
