Too stupid to roast marshmallows

Sorry for the silence of the last few days, it's been crazy-busy!

As a placeholder until I have the mental energy to post something more profound, here's my WND column for this weekend entitled Too Stupid to Roast Marshmallows.

It must have been a slow news day because they put the column on the main page carousel.

And they even made a poll about it! (Vote here.)

  1. Patrice, dear girl, I know that your honesty and humility will prevent you from agreeing with me, but I have been reading your articles and stories for several years, now. Your intelligence is FAR above and beyond that of most mortals, myself included. Most of us, your readers, know how fortunate we are to have you and your sound advice and wisdom guiding us and enlightening us! You often think one of your columns is below par, but none of them EVER is! Thank you for all you do. --Most sincerely, Fred in AZ

  4. That foolishness does not surprise me; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are people who are "educated" and yet completely incapable of boiling water without detailed instructions.

  5. The gov't has no common sense and therefor cannot regulate common sense. Good post .. made me chuckle in a sad way.

  6. This was the third "event" this week precipitated by the "gov" that made me feel like the left side of my head was going to explode. Not counting finding out that I didn't have air coming out of my ductwork in this "new to me house" because they are full of water, the ebola mess and multiple planeloads of illegal muz lims flown

---WY wolf program overturned for the third time
---judging thwarting the authority of the state on the gay marriage (mutually exclusive terms)

  8. Both in the military and in federal government, I have seen this type of project undertaken many times in the past by bureaucrats trying to justify their existence.
My guess the person who generated this publication is a mid level bureaucrat (MID six figure salary) with a degree in Gender Studies, a masters in 17th Century French Literature and a doctorate in Wedgie Weaving. The degress may not be totally accurate, but I bet I'm close.
    Happy Marshmallow roasting.

  9. The irony is the government is the one with the lack of math skills.... "10 feet away with a 30-inch stick"...and it wants to give us mathematical advice. Now I know why the USA is in bad shape...those numbers would bring any great nation to their knees!

  10. Wait!??!!??!!

We have a government protocol for roasting marshmallows...

BUT WE DON'T HAVE ESTABLISHED HOSPITAL PROTOCOLS FOR EBOLA????

(hey - did you find an addendum for s'mores? I want to make sure I'm doing those per procedure...)

  11. I am a retired US Forest Service employee and am ashamed, embarrassed, and totally perplexed.

I left the agency about 7 years ago now and it never ceases to amaze me how the far left has totally corrupted what was a really good agency to work for. What can I say but wish to God it wasn't this bad back 7 years ago but I do have to say it has gotten worse with each passing year.

I talk to colleagues who are still working and I often fail to understand why they continue to work when the agency continues its' embarrassing displays of illogic thought! I do think that whoever did come up with it does have a totally useless degree and really aught to find a REAL job.
