Let's hear it for "inequal and inept education" by "gun-toting, paranoid weirods"

It's always SO amusing when someone shoots themselves in the foot.

This morning I was reading a horrifically disturbing article about how a German homeschooling family had their home invaded by police and the children forcibly removed. Most of the comments left after this piece expressed shock and disgust at the heavy-handed government tactics used by German police. However one comment was so outstandingly opposite that I thought it was worth highlighting in a blog post.

I left the spelling, punctuation, diction, and lack of paragraph breaks entirely intact as proof of the superiority of this person's public school education.

I agree with the police decision! NO ONE needs to be homeschooling kids. We have a duty as a society ,and our government is to ensure, that ALLchildren receive adequete EQUAL education that prepares them for the REAL world. When kids are homeschooled they are most likely not learning skills and knowledge they need to function later as adults. The "education" they are getting is inequal and inept. Teachers are qualified and trained professionals that are able to instruct and nuture, parents are not. You can't have any hick or redneck coming along and trying to "learn" their kids irrelevant, or even dangerous ideas and false truths. Usually these homeschool nuts are domestic terrorist and religious extremeist. Religion has no place in education, whatsoever! I believe that most of these homes are ran by teabaggers and anti-Obama/anti-govt gun-toting, paranoid weirods that are not educating their children in valuable studies, but rather teacing them how to shoot guns and that the govenrment is "evil" and needs to be taken out. This is what harbors the kids who go into public places and open fire! When the government controls education it can be monitored and studies can be done to ensure there is the same level of academics and testing, and students who are falling behind can get the resources and help they need. If a homeschooled kid has a learning problem, they never can catch up orget the tutoring and professional care required. They essentially fall through the cracks and never learn anything. Homeschooled kids never go to colelge and never have real jobs. They are not intellectual and are generally socially retarded and forever outcasts. The govt gave these idiots plenty of time to copmply to THE LAW.They didn't. They have consquences. I am sure their kids will be better off.Mostlikely the home was abusive in some way anyow. Most parents who isolate their children and keep them homeschooled are abusers and molestosrs, they are tyrying to hide something obviously. If you have nothing to hide, no reason to fear the government. Be good people, respect the president, help the poor, insist on single-payer healthcare, demand gun bans, and send your kids to GOOD schools. Intelligent people realizeall this. Stuid people will disagree. Which are you?

Some hilarious highlights of this rant:

• When kids are homeschooled they are most likely not learning skills and knowledge they need to function later as adults.
• Teachers are qualified and trained professionals that are able to instruct and nuture, parents are not.

In the many posts responding to this drivel, someone had the intelligence to write, "In the future, I suggest you have someone proofread your posts before hitting the "Enter" key. Preferably someone who's been home-schooled."

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

  1. What an idiot! The writer must be of the evolution theory crowd (such a monkey) .. instead of intelligent design.

  2. Once I read it all the way through, I actually think this person was being sarcastic. Masterfully done, too.

    1. Really? I was hopeful of that as well.

I do figure it must be a troll, in which case it's bridge must be awfully lonely, or some elite sarcasm.

  4. Wow, just, wow. I doubt this person has ever actually met a homeschooler. It seems like this person has bought into every homeschooling myth there is available.

Gee, it is a shame I haven't learned myself any valuable skills, I guess this 1330 SAT score is a mistake, 'cause there just ain't no way this texas okie redneck could-a passed a test like that! Yeehaw!

  6. I like to think that this person wrote this just to "stir the pot", that they cannot be that out of touch with reality. The problem of course is if they really believe it.

  7. I hope that the reply was just one of those "trolls" or just somebody trying to get a rise out of the homeschooling crowd. I mean, are there really people out there that are THAT ignornat? I guess I'm afraid to know the answer.

  8. I believe this is an employee of the DHS that is hired to monitor such articles or blogs. They post controversial comments that will cause other people to respond. This response may inadvertently expose some OPSEC information regarding that responder or will cause the "troll" to investigate the responder's profile for other "anti-government" posts. Yes there are really government employees that get paid to respond via social media sites just for investigative purposes.

  9. My oh, my someone had their knickers in a twist over home schooling. I have witnessed young people who were raised in a homeschooling setting are well adjusted, highly educated, come from loving homes.
This person has been indoctrinated into the Agenda 21 philosophy, and we all should be concerned with this type of logic. It is this type of thinking that can start small and spread like cancer.

    1. Please! Don't grace what they said as a type of logic!

This kind of 'thinking' can best be called emotional thinking. It's not based in logic at all since it only requires a person have 'feelings' about things. You also can't really argue about the objective right or wrong of these 'feelings'. One can, however, feel good and righteous about it despite being the opposite of that so there's a shallow reward system in place to encourage it. Plus, there's theories about mental illnesses being contagious. :P

One reason I'm so against public schooling, aside from my own negative experience with it, is that they no longer teach kids to THINK objectively and independently but merely teach them to parrot and memorize! To learn one must first learn HOW to learn! Of course, that kind of attitude is offensive these days since kids mainly learn tolerance for intolerable things at public schools.

  10. Oh my. I laughed hard enough I almost cried. If that's the outcome of your public education, you can keep it. I would give my left and right arm to home school my son. but for my family, it's not possible. Just wow.

  11. I couldn't get more than half way through it. Maybe after supper......

I think it was written by a teacher.

    Go union.

    Not.

  12. I think homeschooling is fine, I also think most of the government schools are at best inadequte. I don't know the reason that Germany restricts homeschooling but it is their country and their choice. If the majority preferred to allow home schooling then they could elect politicians that would make that happen. Until then the citizens are required to obey the law.

  13. Wow. Just WOW.
By the way, I was unable to find the word "weirod" in the dictionary.

  14. Yes, I see the point of the rebuttal. Obviously the writer wanted to display the superiority of the public education system; and here we have an excellent snapshot of just that. It is obviously a manifestation of intellect, philosophy and presentation that could only be cultured in a public education environment. I'll go so far as to say that it is quite probable that this person graduated from the public system with honors. After all, it only takes sincerity of conviction, as opposed to competence, to rank highly in the public sector. This has been proven over and over, so no supporting evidence is needed at this point in time. It is easily looked up.

However, what does the writer make of contrary examples like, let's say, Abraham Lincoln? He was homeschooled and look what happened there! Then again, he was apparently so incompetent and unpopular that he was assassinated, so he must not have been a very good president, unlike our current example, who even taught in the modern college system. But, I digress...
A more modern and therefore relevant contrary argument would be my two children, both homeschooled through high school. One is currently interning for an editor of Christian literature, and the other is just starting off her education to become a Registered Nurse. I am now so sorry for homeschooling them. Imagine the heights they could have reached if my wife and I had not held them back with our provincial educational attitudes? My poor deprived kids! I had no way of knowing just how badly I/we were mistreating them until this enlightened person opened our eyes to our shortcomings.

However, we will just have to satisfy ourselves by enjoying their limited success and living happy, successful, prosperous lives -- in spite of being deprived of the opportunity of acquiring the intellectual heights of the public schooled author above.

  15. The most unfortunate part of this story is that the family sought asylum here in the US and I believe they were denied. The legal battle continues.

My parents were involved in the passage of the home schooling law in my home state and my sister and I were both home schooled exclusively. My sister has at least two masters degrees and has only to finish her dissertation for the Ph.D. I merely have a BA and a masters. Both were a waste of time and money. Neither equipped me for "real life" or a "real job". Thankfully I discovered your blog!

  16. Homeschoolers never go to college or have real jobs? I'm definitely living proof that isn't the case. I never spent a day in public school, yet I went to college, graduated with a 3.96 GPA and now have a great job that supports me. I don't think this person has ever met a homeschooler. They are also turning a blind eye to the sorry state our public schools are in. And you don't have to be a conservative to believe that--Every left-wing newspaper will tell you the same thing.

  18. Me thinks Satire , I hope anyways. Sadly Europe is a secularists Utopia. With the exception of certain immigrants who are attracted by generous social benefits, But have little patience for those quaint European traditions and small family concepts. Give it 30 years and you might see compulsory Religion governing the masses as the indigenous population is absorbed through attrition . Let us hope we can defend against that trend here .With the advent of Common core, Homeschooling is the only way our Kids will learn about those pesky negative Historical events that invariably keep repeating themselves because we forgot !

  19. Actually if you read it they make a good case for home school if you want a child raised with values, morals, god fearing standards, work ethic, be self starting and enterprising.
On the other hand government schools breed atheistic robots unable to think for themselves, worker drones for the masses.

  20. Absolutely the finest article against public education I have ever read. How embarrassing for that person, and anyone involved in the 'education' of same.

  21. Just one other ridiculous part of the ridiculousness: How many gun-totin' homeschoolers can be numbered among the school shooters of the last ten years? Or ever? And how many shooters have been "harbored" by homeschoolers?
    Talk about ignorance!

  22. This infographic has some surprising statistics: http://www.topmastersineducation.com/homeschooled/

I emailed it to you Patrice, but I wasn't sure you received it, so here it is again just in case.

It is very relevant to the subject. Statistically, recipients of a Homeschool education felt better prepared for adult "real life" than their public schooled counterparts.
