A great big bull's-eye on my butt

Here's this weekend's WorldNetDaily column entitled A Great Big Bull's-Eye on my Butt.

  1. Hi Patrice,

In my small, very rural community, we just about all have guns. When the cops are two hours away you'd be a nut not to. I don't know a single person out here who doesn't support gun rights and even many of us liberals have ccw's.

But funny enough, the people who call themselves "progressives" (in this community anyway) are more likely to be preppers and pushing self-sustainability than others. We're the ones with berkeys, bison pumps, and buckets of wheat and beans in the closets. In this community, we're the ones who see some huge problems on the horizon, and wonder why no on else seems to be getting ready.

The progressives I know are just as wary of the government as the readers of your blog seem to be! The big difference I see is that we want social security and medicare (for all). But we're against government spying, the patriot act, bailing out corporations, and invading other countries. We'd rather be fixing infrastructure here than abroad.

I find it ironic that we blame so many of the same things on Conservatives and the conservative run media as y'all blame on the Liberals and the liberal run media!

I love your blog, and I love reading about all the things you do on your homestead, because we're into so many of the same things. But, whew, are our politics different! I'm happy you write though, and when you take a day off, I even worry a little.

  2. Anon 7:56, I'm so glad to have you as a reader! I always appreciate views from folks whose opinions differ, especially when they're as polite as you. BTW if you'd care to write a guest piece for the blog, please consider it.

    - Patrice

  3. The reason my sister is carrying five thousand sticks is because she was too proud to let a boy carry anything. (She dropped them at least once.)

  4. I heard a study today on the book by C. Everett Koop, the Slide to Auschwitz.

By the time the Germans got around to murdering all those Jews (and Christians), they'd already killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Germans.

First they killed the mentally ill, then the criminals, then the elderly and the German people were fine with it, because they wanted the government to cut spending.

The starting point of all this? Socialized medicine. Universal care. Broke the government bank, the economy tanked and the people chose evil over good. They ratted our their neighbors and gave the state total control of their lives.

We all know how that worked out.
